UNHAN SCHOOLARSHIP A WAY AND OPPORTUNITY CONTRIBUTED TO MY

COUNTRY

Indonesia is one of the largest archipelago country with total 17.508 islands.1
From geographically aspect Indonesia has a very strategic location, stands beetwen
two big oceans, Hindia Ocean,and Pacific Ocean, also among two big continents,
Asia and Australia. Politically, economically, and energy Indonesia has good
advantages from strategic location, but behind those advantages there are risks of
conflicts if we cannot manage border line effectively and access to explore natural
resources.

Energy sector is very strategic and vital for a nation, because energy is a
“motor engine” for every single aspect in modern life. Not surprisingly, every single
nation in the world attemp to get energy resources, even with blood shed. Indonesia
is blessed by God with plenty of energy resources such as oil, natural gas, solar
energy, wind, geothermal, and many more which need to be explored and
maximized. But unfortunately Indonesia cannot effectively manage plenty of energy
to increase Indonesian people’s prosperity. Energy surveillance is a formidable task,
therefore, government must think smart not just focusing on fossil energy, but
effectively explore other potential natural resources to ensure energy surveillance.

Based on the issue above and background of this country with all its natural
resources potential and conflict inside, there is a sentimental reason from me to
contribute.Then when I heard news in social media about schoolarship in UNHAN I
do not need to think twice, because UNHAN as known as one of the universities in
Indonesia that focus in defense and security nation.

 According to the vision and mission of Energy Surveillance Study Program
UNHAN that is “Be the reference in policy concept and national security strategy
based on energy aspect, also creates capable graduates in policy analyst in order to
maintain energy surveillance”, I have a vision to create a breakthrough in alternative
energy which is potential to implement in Indonesia. Fortunately, when I studied
bachelor degree at UPN Yogyakarta I took International Relationship Study Program
with undergraduate thesis about global warming issue, sustainable and
environmentally friendly energy.

Right place and right time for me to study politics further, this is my
opportunity to get a chance to contribute to my country in defense and energy
surveillance. Through my thesis I hope to find a breakthrough to maintain energy
surveillance and also manage and maximize natural resources for Indonesian
people’s prosperity. I am very optimistic that from potential energy aspect, Indonesia
can be independent in energy surveillance. It is a big hope for me to be accepted in
Energy Surveillance Study Program scholarship.
