RULES FOR MESS/DINING

1. Hostel Mess is cooperative venture which is run on a “No Profit No Loss”


basis.
2. The residents are expected to maintain proper decorum in the Dining Hall.
Shouting and sitting on the mess table is strictly prohibited, if anyone is found
doing so he/she shall be fined Rs. 100 to Rs. 1000 depending on the severity
of offence.
3. The Mess Proctor from the hostel will normally be elected / nominated and he/
she and his /her team will look after the quality of the food provided and
ensure hygiene in the mess.
4. The Mess Proctor will be responsible for making roasters for student’s mess
duty to ensure their training and exposure in culinary skills & smooth conduct
of mess operation.
5. Food will not be served outside the dining hall for students. However, in case
of illness, students may be served food in their rooms with prior permission of
the Warden and Mess Incharge.
6. In no case mess utensils should be taken outside the dining hall.
7. In no case, a resident can enter the kitchen either to collect food or to
communicate any grievances regarding food with kitchen staff.
8. Wastage of food is strictly prohibited, if any student found to leave the food in
his/ her plate, shall be fined suitably.
9. A resident who desires to entertain authorised guests in the Dining Hall shall
pay 100/= for the required meal against payment in advance to cashier.
10. Food ordered through Restaurants/ Dhabas/ Food delivery sites will be
completely on individual responsibility and food delivery order is not
permissible after 09:30 PM with prior intimation to mess incharge.
11. Dress code- Smart Casuals- Full length.
12. Timing for mess:
i. BREAKFAST: 08:00 AM TO 08:30 AM (WEEK DAYS)
a. : 08:30 AM TO 09:00 AM (WEEKENDS)
ii. LUNCH : 01:00 PM TO 01:30 PM
iii. HI TEA : 06:00 PM TO 06:30 PM
iv. DINNER : 08:00 PM TO 08:30 PM
