Teacher’s Activity (3 mins.) Student’s Activity

Good morning, class. Good morning Sir

Prayer. To be led by assign student.

Before you take your seats, kindly pick up

some pieces of paper under your chairs. After
that, make sure that your chairs are properly
arranged.

Okay that’s enough; you may now take your Thank you, Sir!
seats.

Checking of attendance.
A. Review (5 mins.)

What was our lesson yesterday? Our topic yesterday was all about polynomials.
Anyone? Poly means many and nomials means term Sir!

Correct! What else? We also learn about the constant, variable and
term Sir!

Correct. Who can give me an example 15 sir!

of constant?

Very good. So what about variable? It is a symbol usually letters that represent the
unknown.
Correct! Can you give me an example A, b, c,
of variable? x., y, z

Very good! What about terms? What is Term is a combination of constant and variable
the concept of terms? Sir!

Very good! So did you understand Yes Sir!

clearly now our previous topic?
Motivation (10 mins.)
Let us have a group activity! You will
have to form your group according to the
color of your name tags. Those belong
to color yellow will occupy this side on
my right, next at the back will be color
green, at my left side is the blue group
and at the back of them will be color
pink.

Please vacate from your seats quietly

and avoid unnecessary noise. Am I

Are you in your group now? Yes, Sir!

Form a circle so that you will be facing Yes Sir!

each other. After that, you have to select
a leader, a secretary and a reporter in
each group.
Okay you may start now selecting.

Are you done?

Yes Sir!

Leaders you may come here in front to

get the necessary materials.

Please read carefully the instructions

answer. Finish or unfinished you have to
post your output on the board. After that,
the assigned reporter of each group will
present the output.

So this will become easier for you if each Yes Sir!

of you will cooperate. Am I right?

Okay, you may start now.

That’s enough. Kindly post your output on the
board. I need two representatives from the
group to make it.

Well, let us see if you got all the words.

Okay, let us see it from the Green group. Green group!

Now, from Yellow Group Yellow group!

Next is from Blue Group. Blue group!

And now let us hear from Pink Group. Pink group!

Very Good. You got it.

Job well done class!

Remember all the words that you encounter in

your activity, because, it is really necessary for
our next lesson.
LESSON PROPER (30 mins.)

Before I am going to discuss our next lesson.

Let’s have another activity to deepen your
thoughts about our topic for today.

Who can guess what will be our topic for today? Polynomials, degree and number of term Sir!
Very good! Our topic for today is all about
polynomials and its classification according to its
degree and term

Let us discuss the classification of polynomials

according to terms.

Kind of polynomials according to terms. Monomial- is a polynomial with only one term.
Everybody read!

2x2, 3x, 5y…

Very good! Can you give me an example of
monomial? Anyone?

Very good! How many terms are there in all?

One Sir!

Correct! That’s why it is called mono because the

prefix mono means one!

Read the second one everybody! Binomial- is a polynomial of two terms.

Very good! Who can give me an example of 2x2 + 8

binomial?

Correct! Another example!

3x + 9

Very good! How many terms are there in the

Two Sir!
expression 3x + 9?

Exactly! That is why it is called binomial because

the prefix bi means two!

Read the third one! Trinomial- is a polynomial with three terms.

Give me an example of trinomial. 3x2 +2x – 4

Very good! How many terms are there in Three Sir!

trinomial?

Correct! Because the prefix tri means 3.

Multi-nomial – a polynomial with four or more
Read the fourth one! terms.

Very good! Give me an example of multi nomial. 4x3 + 2x2 – 6x +8

Correct! Why is it called multinomial? It has 4 terms Sir!

Exactly!

Now that you know how to identify the kinds of

polynomials according to term. Let us check your
activity A.

Are you ready class? Yes Sir!

Was it made clear to you class regarding the Yes Sir!

classification of polynomials according to number
of term?

Now let us move to the second classification of

polynomials according to its degree.

Here are the classification of polynomials Kinds of polynomial according to its degree are:
according to its degree!
1. constant – a polynomial of degree zero
Will you please read?
Can you give me an example of constant? 5, 10, 15

Very good! How did you say that those number It has a zero degree sir and it is just a number of
are constant? itself!

Very good! Okay read the other one! 2. linear- a polynomial of degree one

Give me an example of linear base on the given 2x, 3x

definition.
4y, 5y

Very good! Then why does those term become

linear? Because it has an imaginary degree of one sir!

Correct! So why it is not written on the term?

Because it does not change the value of the term

Exactly! Read the third one! 3. quadratic – a polynomial of degree two.

Give me an example of quadratic. 2x2 , 3x2

Very good! Why does the term 2x2 is quadratic? Because it has a degree of 2

Very good! Read the next one!

4. Cubic – a polynomial of degree three.

Okay give me an example of cubic 6a3 , 7b3

Why the given term is cubic? Because it is in third degree term

5. quartic – a polynomial of degree 4

Very good! Okay read the next one
Give me an example of quartic. 2b4, 6c4

Why did you say that the given term is quartic? Because it has a degree of four Sir!

Very good! Okay read the last one! 6. quantic – a polynomial of degree five

Give me an example of quantic. 5x5, 3x5

6y5, 8y5

Okay! So how does the given term become

quantic?
It has the highest degree of five sir!
Very good!

Now that you know how to identify the kinds of

polynomial according to its degree. Again we will
check your activity b and let us find out if you are
correct with your activity b.

GENERALIZATION ( 5Mins. )

Do you have any clarification class? None Sir!

Do you understand our lesson for today? Yes Sir!

Well, let us see if you understand clearly the Yes sir!

lesson for today. I have some flashcard here and
you will going to identify the polynomials
according to its classification okay?
