Weights and measurements of hand-made tools are approximate and may vary slightly. All natural-made
products including carving stones and wood used for tools may also vary as to color, size and weight.
Shipping Policy
At this time sculpturehouse.com only accepts retail orders for shipment within the United States and Puerto
Rico. Items are shipped throughout the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, and Puerto Rico only.
However, we invite you to place orders for shipment outside the United States by contacting The Compleat
Sculptor either by phone: 1-800 9 -SCULPT (outside NY ); 1-212-243-6074 (inside NY ) or online at: www.
sculpt.com. All items will be shipped from Sculpture House’s warehouse located in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Sculpture House makes every effort to process your online order quickly. Orders for in-stock items will be
processed within 2-3 business days of order placement. Your processed order will then be shipped per your
chosen UPS or USPS Delivery Method.
Unless otherwise advised, items not in stock at the time of your order will be automatically backordered for
a period of 45 days. If the item(s) ordered become available within those 45 days, it (they) will be shipped
and you will be billed. If the item(s) ordered do not become available within those 45 days, your order will
be cancelled.
Sculpture House has elected to ship items via UPS and USPS. UPS offers you the choice of either UPS
Ground or UPS 2nd Day Air. USPS offers you the choice of Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express. See

Flammable items (designated as such in their description) may only be shipped UPS Ground. Further due to

Olympic Discus Thrower modeled in ROMA Plastilina by Joe Menna

Long recognized as the world's finest oil- and wax-based modeling clay, ROMA Plastilina is the choice of pro-
fessional sculptors everywhere. The Plastilina never hardens since it does not contain water and is not adversely
affected by heat. Contains sulfur. Available colors: Grey-Green and White only. Available in three consistencies:
Consistencies:
No. 1 Soft - is an extremely pliable modeling clay primarily used to make large (monumental) sculptures. Its
soft consistency allows it to be easily scraped from molds. And this clay becomes more pliable with age.
No. 2 Medium - is the specific consistency favored by most sculptors, professional and amateur alike. Providing
a perfect balance of softness and firmness, this oil- and wax-based modeling material is commonly used
in the creation of heads, busts and figure pieces.
No. 3 Medium Firm - is the preferred choice among those sculptors modeling smaller pieces such as bas-
reliefs, doll heads and miniature figures. In addition its firmness allows the artist to sculpt in greater detail
as well as using it for design mock-ups.

Plastilina

Prima Plastilina - Non-Sulfur
A non-sulfur, all-natural, professional grade modeling material. Medium consistency. This easily manipulated
modeling clay, favored among some of the premier sculptors, is well-suited to creating heads, busts and figures.
And the more PRIMA Plastilina is used, the better it gets - in smoothness and texture. Tan in color. A favorite
among the best sculptors.

Self-Hardening Clay
Boneware
Air-Hardening Clay
Boneware is a self-hardening water-based clay that is

made for direct modeling/sculpting. Supported by its
own weight, this clay does not require an armature.
Like all moist clays, Boneware is easily kept soft and
pliable when lightly moistened with water and overlaid
with a damp cloth while not in use.
Specifically formulated to become bone hard when al-

lowed to air dry thoroughly, Boneware does not need
kiln firing or baking. After completely drying, decorat-
ing Boneware can be done using tempera and oil paints
as well as enamels. Packed moist and ready to use.

Claystone
Air-Hardening Clay
This self-hardening clay is a water-based modeling clay
that air dries hard and durable. You can expect minimal
shrinkage as well as minimal cracking if drying over an
armature. Keeping it moist while sculpting (and cover-
ing your work with a damp cloth when not sculpting)
will allow you to work this clay indefinitely.
This clay does not need to be fired in a kiln; no baking,

and no casting is required. When thoroughly dry, it can
be sealed with an acrylic spray or shellac - then paint the
piece with acrylic paints, even adding a patina.
Please note, pieces made with Claystone are for dis-

play only. Since the clay is porous, you must first seal its
inside surface if you want the piece to hold liquids.

Armatures

Head and Animal Armatures
Strong yet fully adjustable, our wire head armatures are constructed of non-staining, non-corrosive aluminum
wire making it the perfect support structure for sculpting your heads and animals. Bases are made of Formica over
a heavy gauge plywood providing a sturdy platform.
The head armature includes the head and a portion of the neck; the head-bust armature also includes a portion of the
shoulders. The animal armature is made in a horse shape since most animals have this basic form.

The integrity of your clay modeling project depends
on a strong interior armature (inner wire framework)
to hold the weight of moist clay, Plastilina or other
sculpting materials that would not otherwise support
itself. Our figure armatures are hand-crafted from
non-staining, pliable almaloy (aluminum) wire with
a backiron made of sturdy steel. Secured to a base of
Formica over heavy gauge plywood. Adjustable back-
irons may be positioned for standing, kneeling or sitting.

Nearly 85% of all armatures are lost in the removal
and/or mold making & casting processes. Because of
this Sculpture House, Inc. has designed a set of fig-
ure armatures where the model can be removed from
the adjustable backiron so that the base and backiron
holding the armature can be reused in future model-
ings.

3 Leg Wood Stand
The Italian Cappelletto TS-34 is a floor modeling stand of oiled stain resistant beech wood and okoumè. It has
a squared and turning work surface, with 6 adjusting positions from a minimum of 97 cm (38") to a maximum of
123 cm (48") from the floor. Ideal for clay and ceramic sculptures.
The table is mounted on a sturdy and steady tripod that prevents oscillation. It can hold objects and sculptures up
to 110 lbs. The TS-34 is designed and created to meet the technical requirements and practical needs of schools
of art and of sculpture and restoration studios. It is also an excellent support to exhibit stone busts and plaster
clasts in museums, art galleries, libraries and any exhibition space.
The modeling stand TS-34 is delivered in kit form, with instructions for easy assembly.

The two larger (in breadth) hardwood modeling tools are designed for the larger sweeping motions when
working in moist sculptural clay and Plastilina. Their contour enables the sculptor’s thumb and fingers to fit
naturally with the tool. They are used extensively with head and bust modeling. The two smaller modeling
tools are designed for medium detail work around the face and drape lines of a figure when working in most
modeling media.
