DRILLING FLUIDS TECHNOLOGY

Introduction:

In every Drilling, Completion and Work-over (C&WO) operations, it is well accepted that
the Drilling Fluids (MUD) is the first and only substance entering the drilled formation. If
the MUD is not properly handled, the wellbore will potentially unstable and/or causing
reservoir damage. MBW FLUIDS stands independently between Drilling Fluids provider and
Oil & Gas Operators to ensure high quality of Drilling Fluid Engineering are being applied
professionally to achieve maximum recovery of hydrocarbon. The training can be provided
in Bahasa Indonesia or English.

Who Should Attend?

Professionals in the Company who want to get an additional working knowledge of

Advanced Mud to enhance their cost consciousness in performing their tasks. Classes are
designed for Government Representatives in Joint Petroleum Venture contracts.
Completion & Work-overengineers, Drilling supervisors, Geologist, Geophysicist, Drilling
engineers or other engineers who are interested in basic knowledge of Drilling Fluids
(MUD) Engineering.

COURSE CONTENT

Day #1

o DRILLING FLUIDS (MUD) SYSTEMS

Highlight all mud types: Pneumatic, WBM, NAF (SOBM) systems; their applications
and formulations, etc.

Day #2

o UNDERSTANDING DRILLING FLUID (MUD) PROPERTIES

Understand properties from Daily Mud Report and their impacts on mud system.
o UNDERSTANDING DRILLING FLUID (MUD) PRODUCTS
Understanding products and their correct application.

Day #3

o LITHOLOGY AND DRILLING FLUIDS DESIGN

To recognize lithology and their characters to design a fluid system.
o FORMATION DAMAGE
Recognize causes, damage mechanism and impacts during Drilling, C&W
Operations, how to handle and mitigate it.

Day #4

o CLAY CHEMISTRY
To describe type and characteristics of clay minerals and rocks in order to design
correct fluids treatment.
o HOLE PROBLEMS AND MITIGATION PLAN
To recognize causes and impacts of wellbore problems and how to mitigate them
from drilling fluid perspectives.

Day #5

o COMPLETION & WORK-OVER (C&WO) FLUIDS

Highlight the importance of C&WO fluids especially in minimizing reservoir
damage. This includes: products selection, handling, fluid cleanliness etc.

Includes the specific information and skills to be transmitted during training program
(theoretical & conceptual framework, best practice, etc)

Nokke A. Mbouw | Independent Fluids Specialist

The employment history began from attending the Drilling Fluids Technology training held
in September 1975, organized by IMCO Services, in Houston, Texas – USA.
Today, with a total of over 43 years of vast fluids competency, obtained from working
experiences with different drilling fluid providers in different countries. Wide-ranging
work experiences as service provider combines with experiences as a Fluids Specialist for
Oil Companies offer fluids skill. The combination of these experiences is now brought
forward and offered to Oil Companies who acknowledge the importance of having further
knowledge in Drilling Fluids (MUD) Engineering. Mr. Nokke is currently holding the position
of a Senior Trainer and Consultant of PT Zyura Sinergi Utama.

COURSE FEE
