There are Native American women who are being sexcually abused and they are getting

kidnapped. People don’t really know that this is a problem so I want to give light to the issue.

Ending Violence Against Native Women. (n.d.). Retrieved November 5, 2019, from
https://indianlaw.org/issue/ending-violence-against-native-women. In the article “Ending
Violence Against Native Women,” The Indian Law Resource Center talks about how Native
women are being sexually abused. Every 1 in 2 Native women and children have fallen victim to
sexual violence. With Native children they suffer PTSD that is three times higher than people of
general population (Ending Violence Against Native Women, 1978). The Indian Law Resource
Center talks about how Native American can not testify against non-Native Americans.
According to The Indian Law Resource Center, “Many Native women have married non-
Indians,” (Ending Violence Against Native Women, 1978) However, it is unacceptable that a
non-Indian who chooses to marry a Native woman, live on her reservation, and commit acts of
domestic violence against her, cannot be criminally prosecuted by an Indian nation and more
often than not will never be prosecuted by any government,” (Ending Violence Against Native
Women, 1978). Not being able to prosecute non-Native Americans these women and children
aren’t getting the justice that they deserve.
This source shows that more Native American women are more likely to be forced into
sexual abuse then regular women. That Native American women can not prosecute the person
who did this to them.
It shows by telling people what it is like for these women and what is truly happening to them.
The aspects that the writer uses are logos and pathos. He doesn’t really use ethos because he
doesn’t tell you anything about how he is associated to the Native Americans.
The audience is social activist trying to get information on the topic to help.
I thought the source was great at explaining everything that is happening to these women and in
cases children.

/211/text. In the “116th Congress (2019-2020): SURVIVE Act,” the general idea of the act is to
help these reservations to get services to victims of crime, “which may be provided in traditional
form or through electronic, digital, or other technological formats,” (Hoeven, & John, 2019).
Some of the services that are used with this act can “provided through subgrants to agencies or
departments of Tribal governments or nonprofit organizations,” (Hoeven, & John, 2019). They
will also provide “domestic violence shelters, rape crisis centers, child abuse programs, child
advocacy centers, and elder abuse programs providing services to victims of crime,” (Hoeven, &
John, 2019). Also with medical care, mental health counseling/evaluation, and service animals if
needed (Hoeven, & John, 2019). Mostly this act is to help increase resources for tibial victims
through grant programs.
This represents the law. Shows how people are trying to fix the problem. Didn’t really
use any of these but maybe Ethos. Audience is people in Law. It was hard to read because it was
actually in the case of a bill/act, so trying to figure out what exactly it was trying to say was hard
just like the other one but I figured it out.

native-american-murdered-missing-women/index.html In the article “Why do so many Native
American women go missing? Congress aiming to find out,” Scott Mclean talks about how a
Native women went missing (McLean, 2019). The family of this Native American women
thought that the police wrote off the charge of her going missing because she had a prostitute
charge before she went missing. The woman was never found (McLean, 2019). Mclean talks
about how there are Natives that are 10 times more likely to be murdered out of the whole
population, (McLean, 2019). This statistic is about a decade old (McLean, 2019). He then goes
on and gives the statistic “5,712 reports of missing Native American women in 2016 alone.” He
got this information from Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Crime Information Center
(NCIC).
This reading gives more insight on how the disappearances affect the families and why it
needs to be changed.
This fits because it shows the side that doesn’t have as many statistics. That these missing
women aren’t just numbers, they are real people.
This one heavily uses pathos, yes there is some logos with it but it’s mostly pathos.
The audience is people who have family, in this case a daughter who they would do anything for.
I liked that this source helped show that there are families who are affected by the
disappearances and it’s not just the non-native family members doing everything to them.

Enforcement and they can prosecute the crimes that were committed (Murkowski, & Lisa, 2019).
In the act it states that if one goes missing, “best practices in conducting searches for missing
persons on Indian land,” (Murkowski, & Lisa, 2019). It also states that if the officers find any
evidence of human reminds, “including guidance stating that all appropriate information related
to missing and murdered Indians be entered in a timely manner into applicable databases,”
(Murkowski, & Lisa, 2019). The Law Enforcement agencies are responsible for putting in the
data that is found. The act also states that if found dead the agencies have to adhere by,
“culturally appropriate victim services for victims and their families,” (Murkowski, & Lisa,
2019).

All of the research that I found was very eye opening. I knew that women were being
killed and kidnapped but I didn’t know that they are more likely to be taken then most other
people. I never knew that there were different laws to try and help these people, so when
researching this project it was interesting to learn about what these laws mean.
