The required diameter for each table appointments and its definition.

Chinaware
1. Show Plate
-Show Plate. decorative plate preset at each place setting during formal meals,
which is removed before service begins.
-Appetizer, dessert, salad plate, and side plates: vary in size from 4 to 9 inches
(10 to 23 cm) Bread and butter plate: small (about 6–7 inches (15–18 cm)) for
individual servings. Lunch or dessert plates (typically 9 inches (23 cm))
2. Dinner Plate
- a large plate usually 10 inches in diameter used for the main course of a meal
-The average dinner plate we commonly use today measures 11 or 12 inches
across. A few decades ago plates measured 7 to 9 inches. In Europe, the
average plate measures 9 inches while some American restaurants use plates that
are around 13 inches in diameter.
3. Appetizer plate/ fish plate
- Appetizer, dessert, salad plate, and side plates: vary in size from 4 to 9 inches
(10 to 23 cm)
The fish plate is a specialized plate about 8 to 9 inches in diameter. It is not made
as part of a dinnerware set, but is recognizable by ornamentation in a fish pattern.
4. Salad plate
- Usually round in shape, salad plates come in two sizes: The larger one is eight
to 8.5 inches and the smaller one is an inch less. Use: Remember that the salad
plate is larger in size than the bread and butter plate. These
small plates primarily hold individual portions of salad.
5. Soup plate
- Diameter is approximately 9 to 10 inches, the rim is 1 to 2 inches wide, the
depth is up to 1 ½ inches deep, and the well is 6 to 7 inches across.
6. Soup Bowl
- A cup of soup contains one cup (8 ounces). A bowl is 1.5 cups (12 ounces). A
Bread Bowl comes with one cup of soup (8 ounces).
7. Bread and Butter plate
- a plate five to six inches in diameter for individual servings of bread and
butter. — called also butter plate.
Flatware/ Silverware
8. Escargot
- These 18/10 stainless steel escargot tongs are spoon-shaped to grasp shells
securely. These tongs can also be used with other small foods. 6 inches in length.
9. Soup Spoon
- Soup spoons have round bowls that are usually deeper than the bowls of
other spoons. The entire spoon measures between five and seven inches long.
10. Appetizer knife/ Fish knife
- Fish knives vary in size but usually measure about 8¾ inches long. The fish
knife is a specialized shape not included as part of a flatware set. The fish
knife features a wide blade with a dull edge and a tip made with a notched point
used to separate the skeleton from the body and lift the bones onto a plate.
11. Salad knife
- Made with a serrated blade, the salad knife can be used safely on non-stick
surfaces to cut not only vegetables but a wide variety of foods such as fruits,
cakes, bars, and breads. It is also referred to as a lettuce knife with 11 1/2 inch
measurement.
12. Dinner knife
-is sized between 9 ½ and 10 inches. It is used to cut and push food.
13. Steak knife
- The blade length of the steak knife is small and approximately equal to
the size of the steak itself (approx. 10-12 cm).
14. Appetizer fork
- approximately 7¼ to 7¾ inches in length and is used in formal and informal
dining.
15. Salad fork
- The tines of salad forks are flatter and slightly broader than those of a dinner
fork, and the utensil is approximately 6 inches long.
16. Dinner fork
- The dinner fork measures about 7 inches in length. It is used to eat the main
course at all formal and informal meals.
17. Bread and butter knife
- approximately 5 to 6 inches long.
- The broad blade of the bread and butter knife is ideally suited to
holding butter and spreading it on a piece of bread. The flat cutting edge is not
serrated and is only gently sharpened, as the knife is primarily used for spreading,
not cutting. The rounded point helps spread the butter over a broader surface.
BEVERAGEWARE

18. Water Goblet


- The stemmed water goblet that accompanies wine service is about 7½ inches
(19 cm) high and holds 13 ounces (385 mL). This glass can be filled.
19. Red wine Glass
- Red wine glasses can range from a minimum of eight ounces to well over 22
ounces. However, the standard red wine pour is five ounces, no matter what
the size of the glass is. For comparison, a standard white wine glass holds
between 8 to 12 ounces, but a standard pour of white wine would only be 5
ounces in the glass.
20. White wine glass
