Definition of Laptop
Laptops are one of the communication devices in the form of personal computers that
are easy to carry anywhere and can be placed on the user's lap which consists of one device
that includes a keyboard, display screen, microprocessor and is usually equipped with a
rechargeable battery. Laptops are sometimes also called notebook computers or notebooks.
As a personal computer, laptops have the same functions as desktop computers (desktop
computers) in general. The components contained in it are exactly the same as the
components on a desktop computer, only the size is reduced, made lighter, less heat, can be
folded and more power efficient. Unlike computers that have to use AC resources to be used,
laptop resources come from batteries or A/C adapters that can be used to recharge batteries to
turn on the laptop itself. Laptop batteries can generally last about 1 to 6 hours, depending on
how to use, specifications and size of the battery. Because laptops are designed to be used
anywhere, laptops can be used without having to connect to a power outlet (power source).
The power source is used when you want to recharge the battery or when the battery is low.
The principle works the same as a cellphone.

Types of Laptop
1. Netbook
 Netbooks usually have a size of 10 inches - 12 inches and generally use Intel
Atom processors. This type of laptop usually has a lighter weight which is
approximately 1 kg. Netbooks became popular when Asus released a product called
Eee PC. When it was first launched, this low-priced netbook uses a hard drive like a
portable USB Flash Disk (UFD) storage medium, with a low capacity of 4GB.
2. Mainstream
This type is a type of laptop in general or more commonly called a notebook.
This laptop has the characteristics of the processor used, for example Intel Core i5, i3,
and Core 2 Duo, minimum 2GB RAM memory, has a Drive to read and write DVDs,
full-sized keyboard or at least 80% of its own width.
3. Tablet PC
This device is more portable than other types of laptops. It has a touch screen so it
is easy to rotate, and is easy to carry anywhere. Starting in 2010, this device has
become a new trend. This trend is commanded by Apple Inc. who presents iPad to the
market. However, there are differences between the Tablet PC and iPad, namely :
 The PC tablet uses the stylus in operation. While the iPad uses a finger.
 The PC tablet is made with laptop functions, while the iPad is intended as a
gadget.
Laptops are significantly slower than desktop computers. but the progress of
manufacturing technology has enabled laptops to have the same capabilities and
specifications as desktop computers. In fact, high-end laptops have much better quality
compared to desktop computers. Most laptops also consist of several I/O ports, such as USB
ports, which allow a standard keyboard and mouse to be used on a laptop. Modern laptops
also have wireless/wireless network adapters, which allow users to access the Internet
without needing a cable through a WiFi network.
Some famous laptop brands circulating in Indonesia such as Acer, Apple, ASUS,
Axioo, Compaq, Dell, Hewlett-Packard (HP), Lenovo, Sony, Toshiba.
