Why Craft Village as a project is so important

The crafts village will be one stop destination, where creativity, innovation and
knowledge would work for sustainable development. Crafts and culture are the only
differential today that distinguishes country & regions. Crafts & cultural products are
consumed by millions of people all over the globe in form of luxury, ultra-luxe, still
they face hand to mouth situation and are bound to leave their traditional work.
Modern lifestyle has enabled comfort living yet vast repertoire of knowledge and
wisdom that sustained and nurtured these communities are fast disappearing. There
is urgent need to preserve and revitalize these crafts and contemporize them. This
crafts village aims to build a unique set-up to revive traditional skills and techniques
to make a sustainable living. An estimated 7 million artisans are engaged in craft
production to earn a livelihood. According to the United Nations, over the past 30
years, the number of Indian artisans has decreased by 30%,indicating the need to
re-invest in artisans to safeguard crafts, culture &heritage as an important source of
livelihood. GO GREEN WITH CRAFTS, LIVE ULTRA LUXE WITH CRAFTS which
otherwise may extinct in next 5-10 years! Now or Never….

Objective Of The Craft Village

Crafts village offers trans-disciplinary approach to improve the quality of life of crafts
persons by providing formal contemporary design and product development through
design-technology-skill management programmes/ workshops on regular basis.

As a part of craft study programs almost each student in US, Europe, UK and
other countries travel to different parts of the world to learn exotic crafts and
culture, such students would visit the crafts village twice every year to learn
exotic crafts of India

What We Need From You

We need funding support to build world-class infrastructure & facility that can have
training studios, labs, equipment, and stay facilities for craftsmen & participants. It
allows creative retreat to creative professionals, this eco-friendly village will have re-
cycle, re-use as a core, an open green garden for organic food for people with all
tastes and kinds. An open amphitheatre, yoga and meditation centre, creative gym,
and plenty of nature will be part of entire campus for inspiring the artisans and
designers, design students.

Estimated Completion Of Project

The Craft Village project has begun in India and will be completed within a span of
18 months with phase wise progress.

The Craft Village project :

Phase 1 includes landscaping, water boring, electricity, fencing and security.
Phase 2 includes building of Structures including cottages, art studios, workshops,
yoga & meditation centre and an open amphitheatre.
Phase 3 includes installation of equipment, tools and machines for training centre,
computers and office needs.
The Impact It Would Bring
