2. Discuss the time diagram for outstanding balance provide example.
The time diagram is used to illustrate the regular payments made for a loan and the payments it
still needs for it to be fully paid. In the diagram, the term (n), regular payments (R), payments
made (k), and remaining payments to be made (OBK) are displayed. This diagram is used to
illustrate situations where someone with a loan is currently paying it off, but is still in the process
of doing so.

Example:
Suppose a private company borrows 150,000 Php from a lender at an interest rate of 5%
compounded monthly. The loan is for a term of 10 years and is repaid by monthly installments at
the end of each month. Calculate the outstanding balance after 68 months.

Given: P=150000, j= 12 , n=(10)(12)=120, k=68

Answer: The outstanding balance after 68 months is 74243.71 Php.

3. Make a problem set about logic (with answer).
Select the statement that is equivalent to the given statement:
I ate a waffle or a hotdog  p ∨ q
a.) If I did not eat a waffle, then I ate a hotdog.  ~p ⇒ q
b.) If I ate a waffle, then I ate a hotdog.  p ⇒ q
c.) If I did not eat a waffle, then I did not eat a hotdog. ~p ⇒ ~q
d.) If I ate a waffle, then I did not eat a hotdog. p ⇒ ~q
p q ~p ~q p∨ q ~p ⇒ q p⇒q ~p ⇒ ~q p ⇒ ~q

T T F F T T T T F
T F F T T T F T T
F T T F T T T F T
F F T T F F T T T

Answer: (p ∨ q) L ⇒ ~p ⇒ q
Answer: p or q is logically equivalent to not p implies q. Statement a (If I did not eat a waffle,
then I ate a hotdog) is equivalent to the given statement.

1. Illustrate Stocks and Bonds.

Illustrate Bonds:
Imagine a situation wherein you lent a person an amount of money to start-up his business. In
return, you said that the person should repay the borrowed money and the accompanying interest.
If he didn't, this will show up in his liabilities; therefore, he is still obliged to pay what he owes
one way or another.
Illustrate Stocks:
Imagine that you have a certain amount of money. You want to make that money grow you could
use the money to buy stocks from a company, and in return you will get a certain amount of
money they are required to give you based on the number of stocks you own. You could also sell
your stocks if the market seems viable. Though it does offer high risks, it also offers a very
profitable outcome if played right.

2. Discuss the stock index table (use current trend).

Stock Index Table

The sector with the highest index value is the Industrial sector. This implies that investments
made within the Industrial Sector generally have high return and that the stocks here are bought
and sold at a good price. The sector with the lowest index value is the Services sector. This
implies that investments made within the Services sector generally have a low return and that the
stocks here are bought and sold at a price that doesn’t deem profitable. The only sector with the
negative Chg value is the Mining and Oil sector, this means that their index value yesterday
before the market closed was considerably higher compared to their index value today.

3. Synthesize/Generalize the ff. (Use songs, poems, etc.)

A. Stocks and bonds

To have a secured future, one should invest now

So that they won’t get worried of their money running out.
You have two options, if you want to invest.
Stocks and bonds, the most common among the rest.

Stocks are more risky, but its worth a try

Do not worry, its return value is high
Investing on stocks makes you a shareholder
You are given voting rights by the company owner.

On the contrary, bonds are less risky

Most suitable for retirees
However, the return value is low,
The company' credit rating you need to take note.

In both options, you can never go wrong

For life is like a card game all along
It doesn't matter what cards you possess
You will succeed if you play your cards the best

B. Loans and amortization

In a world where money makes the world go 'round

It's hard to stay on track if your funds run out
Luckily, there's always another option
You can apply for a loan with amortization

Loans are more common than you think they are

You can find them in banks or in credit cards
With a loan, you can get what you want now and pay for it later
As long as you apply for a loan that's for business or for consumers

The money that you get, the principal, also comes with a price
A collateral and regular payments would surely suffice
Of course, these regular payments should be paid on time
So there’s a term given when you’ll be paying dimes
How much do I pay though? Is the question you ask
I wouldn’t know the amount if the interest compounds fast
There’s something you can use to make sure your payments aren’t unbalanced
It’s called the time diagram for outstanding balance

C. Logic

Study evaluating arguments and reasoning

To differentiate poor reasoning from correct reasoning
It helps us to reason correctly
The mathematical variation is related to computer science closely
Formal logic is utilized in applications
It has four divisions
Aristotle is the father
19th century scholars studied it further
It is stated declaratively
The truth value represents truth and falsity
A question is not an example
A declarative sentence is ample
The propositions are written in notations
P, q and r are variations
It can be conjucted, disjuncted, and negated
Conditional and biconditional are also included
The subject is heavily specific
What was referred to is logic
