The language retains the proto-Philippine schwa vowel /ə/ that have
disappeared in most Philippine languages like Cebuano, Tagalog and even the
neighboring Coastal Bikol language.
Religion:
Roman Catholicism is the most
predominant religion in the province of
Camarines Sur by having 93% of the
population. Other religions professed
by the people include the Iglesia
Filipina Independiente, Iglesia Ni Cristo,
Baptist, and other smaller Christian
groups.
Beliefs:
Beliefs on god, the soul and life after death are strongly held by the people.
Related to these, there are annual rituals like the pabasa, tanggal, fiestas and flores
de mayo. Side by side with these are held beliefs on spiritual beings as the tawo sa
lipod, dwende, onglo, tambaluslos, kalag, katambay, aswang and mangkukulam.

Norbing Vallez (Bato)
Born 1976 at Bato Camarines Sur, Filipino artist “Nobing Villez” is a Fine Art
undergraduate at Far Eastern University who joined the group “Sikat” (Sining Kulay at
Tinta). Norbing believes that an art advocacy group is an empowering instrument in
reaching out to our very own Filipino artists and inspiring them to act and change
their life in a positive way.
