This year’s PE day was a unique one for me. I experienced different emotions like
excitement, fear, and the feeling of pure joy. For me, PE day was a very fun learning experience
because we get to see students playing different sports and these students were playing with added
knowledge imparted by our PE teachers who have guided us to play these games well. I have
understood the games better because of the added knowledge given to us by our PE teachers. I
participated in the event as a dancer for the opening production. We danced a hip-hop routine in
order to add to the hype of the crowd. I realized the importance of these types of productions in a
sports event because it really does add excitement towards the event. As part of the red team of Sir
Jade Halilio, I supported the games of the Red cluster namely basketball boys, volleyball boys,
futsal boys and volleyball girls. I have also watched the other teams play basketball girls and boys,
volleyball girls and boys, and futsal girls and boys. I have seen their eagerness to win in the games.
I have seen the red team train their hearts out as they were preparing for this day.

The first game I watched was a basketball game played by the boys. I watched the
game and saw them playing well in the first and second quarter. As they played during the third
quarter, they were struggling to catch up because the opposing team made a big lead. The game
ended with a loss but the players showed sportsmanship throughout the game and made me realize
that at the end of every game --- the most important part of winning is acceptance and learning.
The value of acceptance is key to being better players because through acceptance we learn to
accept our mistakes and make our failures in to success. Additionally, I have experienced that the
supporters of each team showed cheerfulness and did not show any signs of jeer. Cheer don’t jeer
--- this is a statement that has been embodied by Ateneo students during these sport’s events like
this. It is important in maintaining a healthy relationship between one another because it is
important to set a good example among others especially the young.

I watched the games for futsal boys and girls. The sport was not strange for me since I
have experienced playing the game. The red team was a top contender for futsal boys because they
won and reached the finals. I saw them play their hearts out showing that they are worthy of
winning as champions during the event. Futsal is a difficult sport that needs teamwork in order to
play with ease. Also, the read team players showed their utmost confidence while playing because
they played with confidence all throughout the game. The opposing team had a difficulty because
they lacked communication.

Communication --- it is an important element in team sports because through

communication players can show coordination with one another. The first volleyball game for
boys that I watched was between the blue and gray team. The blue team lost because small errors
due to lack of communication. The game was intense because of long rallies between the two
teams. Then, the finals game for volleyball happened where in the teams who played were the red
team and gray team. The red team was twice to beat. The first game was intense and both teams
were very skillful. The red team lost in their first game but was able to win the second game and
bag the gold medal for volleyball boys.

The next game I watched was volleyball girls and I supported the red team. They
fought for their place in the finals and eventually won a hard fight after their 1st game. They were
off to challenge the gray team in the finals. They were really tired because their games happened
one after another wherein they had a hard time keeping up with the gray time during the final. I
noticed that they were very tired considering them playing for two straight games. Also, the team
gray showed strategies that were great enough and were. They fought a good fight and at the end
of the game, sportsmanship still prevailed.

Team Red was a strong contender to win in the different events and they were very
great in the 3 sports for boys and girls. The sportsfest was a great way to teach students on how to
play the game properly and it was not a waste of time especially since the students had a good time
playing. I realized the importance of sports as means of stress relief. The 6-hour event was a great
way to release our academic tension and stress. Through these team sports we get to also bond
with our fellow Ateneans and form strong relations with one another. I appreciate how the teachers
of PE 2116 organized this event because of the smooth flow of the whole program. The event was
not a disappointment and I enjoyed every minute of it. Even if I was just watching at the bench, I
felt the intensity and pride of each team. This year’s sportsfest was an event filled with learning
experiences and I am realized the importance of sports in our lives especially towards our health
and wellness.
