RULES & REGULATIONS OF SPORTS EVENTS


GENERAL GUIDELINES:

1. The dates of Infusion are 17th, 18th and 19th January 2020.
2. The registration fee for (Sports events and Pro-Nite) is Rs.500 without
accommodation and Rs.800 with accommodation.
3. The team needs to inform about their accommodation prior to their visit and the
amount must be deposited as soon as team arrives/ registers for the first event.
4. The teams are expected to show true sportsmanship throughout the tournament and any
act of misconduct may lead to cancellation of the respective team and/or the whole
contingent.
5. The referee’s or Umpire’s decisions will be deemed as final.
6. There may be slight adjustments in the schedule.
7. The decision of organizing committee in case of any dispute shall be deemed final.
8. Each player needs to bring a valid Institute’s identity card.

BADMINTON (MEN & WOMEN)

1. Each men team can have minimum 5 players & maximum 7 players and each women
team can have minimum 2 players & maximum 4 players.
2. One player can play a maximum of one singles and one doubles match
3. For men, best of 5 matches (Format- SSDSD) and for women, best of 3 matches
(Format- SDS)
4. Matches will be best of 3 sets - 21 points each
5. All players must wear non-marking shoes
6. Players list (who will play the matches and in which order) will have to be exchanged
between captains before the match and the same has to be given to the referee and
cannot be changed after the Referee receives it
7. The Referee can overrule any decisions given by the linesman and his decision will be
final under all circumstances

BASKETBALL (MEN & WOMEN)

1. International FIBA rules will be followed.

2. Matches would be played on Knockout basis.

3. Team composition would be 5+5.

4. MEN: There will be 4 quarters of 8 minutes each.

5. WOMEN: 4 Quarters of 6 minutes each.

6. 4 time outs of 20 seconds duration each allowed in total for each team.

7. Referee decision would be final.

CARROM (MEN & WOMEN)

The event will be played following international Carrom rules

1. Minimum number of players in a team is 4 and maximum is 7 for men and minimum 3 and
maximum 4 for women.

2. There will be 5 ties in a match for men and 3 ties for women.

3. The sequence of the ties will be 2 singles, 1 double, 1 single, 1 double (Total 3 singles & 2
doubles) for men and single, double, single for women.

4. Each tie will be a best of 5 boards for men and a best of 3 boards for women.

5. 5 points for the queen and 1 point each for black & white coin.

6. Back shots (thumbing) are allowed.

7. Men: Each player can play a maximum of 2 matches: 1 singles & 1doubles.

8. Women: Only 1 player can play a maximum of 2 matches 1 singles and 1 doubles

9. Players can bring their own strikers.

10. Foul (if valid) will be given only if the opponent claims it.

CHESS (MIXED)

The event will be played following international chess rules

1. Each team will consist of 5 players and 1 substitute player.

2. Each team will have to submit the seeding of all its players before the start of the
tournament which will be followed throughout the tournament.

3. A team can have any ratio of men to women players.

4. Substitute player will be seeded 6th (and can only enter at the 5th board).

5. Each match will be of maximum 40-minute duration with each player getting 20 minutes
on the clock.

6. Each team will give its board order (i.e. which player will play at what board number)
at the start of the tournament. This Board order will remain fixed during the whole
tournament.

7. The final ranking would be based on the team points. Total game points would be used
to as the first tie- breaker. Head-to-head record will be used as the second tie-breaker.
In case, the teams are still tied after this, they will be played a tie-breaker blitz round
with 10mins on the clock. If teams are still tied an Armageddon match between the top
seeded players of both teams will be played to determine the winner.

8. Minor rules related to game play and code of conduct will be conveyed to participating
teams at the event venue.

CRICKET (MEN ONLY)

1. 10 overs a side.
2. Two Power plays – First two overs, and one batting Power Play – 1 over between 5-10
overs.
3. Only 2 fielders allowed outside the inner circle during the mandatory Power Play.
4. 3 fielders allowed outside the inner circle during batting power play.
5. 5 bowlers can bowl a maximum of 2 overs.
6. Runner would not be allowed under any circumstances.
7. 2 bouncers per over allowed.
8. Wide, No Balls, Byes count for extra runs.
9. LBW is not available & leg byes runs also would not be counted.
10. Free Hit for a no ball due to any reason.
11. Innings break- 5 mins.

Few Guidelines:

 All Teams should reach the ground 10 minutes before the match time
 If the playing 11 of both teams are not on time, maximum of 10 minutes will be given
to them after which the match will be abandoned and points will be distributed equally
 In case of a tie, Super-over will be played. Maximum run scoring team will win. If
again there is a tie then team with maximum boundaries (four or six) will win the match.
 However if only one team is not present on time, the other team will be declared winner
after 10 minutes
 Umpires' decision will be final in all cases
 Balls and wickets will be provided. Each Team should try to bring their bats.

Audience Protocol

a) Spectators must remain outside the field of play during the course of the match.

b) Spectators must not throw any object on the umpire or officials. If this happens umpire
can abandon the match and the offending team has to forfeit the match.

FOOTBALL (MEN ONLY)

1. The squad for football will consist of at least 14 members (11 playing and a maximum of
3 substitute players allowed)
2. Substitutions will be on rolling basis
3. Matches will be of 45 minutes duration: Each half having a duration of 20 minutes with a
break of 5 minutes in between
4. Extra time in football will be of 10 minutes each half with a 5 minutes break in between
followed by a penalty shootout if scores are still even
5. Offside rule will be applicable
6. The rules for Yellow and Red cards are as per standard FIFA rules
7. All other standard FIFA rules for Football to be followed

FUTSAL (MEN ONLY)

1. Event will be Futsal mode with number of players in a side restricted to 6


players, including goalkeeper.

2. A team list of minimum 6 players and maximum 10 players needs to be given to the
referee before the start of the match

3. Half Length will be 15 mins

4. Rolling substitution is allowed unlimited times.

5. There will be no offside for Futsal.

6. Penalties will be taken from the penalty spot and they will be a single step penalty.

7. Ball should be kicked in at the time of throw in.

8. Yellow card and Red Card rules as implied in Football apply here.

9. Shoes are mandatory.

10. Goalkeepers must wear a colour distinct than both team colours. Normal goalkeeping rules
apply.

11. 7 mins extra time per half will be given if match is tied after full time, followed by penalties.

12. Penalty shootout will consist of 3 penalty kicks followed by sudden death if undecided.

13. Other rules are in accordance with FIFA futsal rules.

14. The decision of the referee would be final.

TABLE TENNIS (MEN & WOMEN)

1. Minimum 4 players per team for MEN and 3 for WOMEN.

2. The event will be played following international TT rules.

3. Knockout format with each match having 5 ties (4 singles & 1 doubles) for men and 3 ties
(2 singles & 1 doubles) for women.

4. Order of matches will be singles, singles, doubles, singles, singles for men and singles,
doubles, singles for women.

5. The captain shall nominate players in position A, B, C or X, Y, Z.

6. Men: Each individual match shall be the “best of 5” games of 11 points each (including
semis and finals). A player can play a maximum of 2 matches (2 singles or 1 singles & 1
doubles)

7. Women: It will be a “best of 3” format (2 singles & 1 doubles) of 11 points each


(including semis and finals) & a player can play a maximum of 2 matches (1 singles
& 1 doubles).

THROWBALL (WOMEN ONLY)

1. Min Players per team should be 7. Maximum of 5 substitute players.

2. The first team to score 25 points wins a set.

3. A match is best of 3 sets.

4. Service should be within 5 seconds of the referee’s whistle and done from the service zone
without crossing the end line.

5. No underarm serve or throw.

6. Double is not allowed for receiving the service ball.

7. No dubs or body touch.

8. Throw with one hand and from same side of catch (right hand if received in right side and
vice versa).

9. The ball is thrown within three seconds after being caught.

10. No passing.

VOLLEYBALL (MEN ONLY)

1. A minimum team of 6 should be present.

2. A maximum of 3 substitutes.

3. Rotation of the team members is not mandatory

4. Service rotation is compulsory: Minimum 3 players should serve in a round robin fashion.

5. Will be played both in day and under lights also.

6. Substitutions as per international rules.

7. All the matches will be 3-set of 25 points each.

8. Final will be 5-set match with 25 points each.

9. Rally scoring to be used in all matches.

10. The referee’s decision shall be considered final.

FRISBEE (MIXED)

1. Standard rules of Frisbee will be followed.

2. A team consists of 10 players including 7 in-field and 3 substitute.

3. A team can have any ratio of men to women players.

4. There would be two halves of 10 minutes each.

5. Break time of 2 minutes between halves.

6. Extra time of 5 minutes will be played in case of a tie after full time.

7. Rolling substitutions are allowed. There is no limit on number of substitutions.

8. Rules and schedule are subjected to change in the spirit of the game and the final
decision rests with the organising team of IIM Rohtak.
