Role summary  We are developing an exciting career development pathway for MSK
Physiotherapists to help shape the future of the service and develop
their clinical skills. We are looking for clinicians to be involved in
Physiotherapy clinics (often involving complex cases), triage services,
shared decision making and rehabilitation groups.

 We can support your development with in-house CDP and access to


consultants and specialist clinicians, as well as provide funding for
relevant courses.

 You will be part of a forward thinking and dynamic team, the role
would be suited to someone with a passion for MSK and a keenness to
push boundaries and challenge the ‘norm’.
 Our Physiotherapists are currently involved in developing new and
innovative pathways for Chronic conditions, back pain and
osteoarthritis. We are the first organisation in the country to pilot the
Nordic Health ‘Spine Concept’ Rehabilitation system for spinal pain.
This uses state of the art equipment to provide a graded, measurable
approach to treating back and neck pain by improving strength,
mobility and conditioning.

 We also run a ‘Shared decision making’ service where our experienced


clinicians help patients make decisions about their healthcare options.
This is to ensure patients are able to make informed choices about
their care and are aware of all the options available to them.

 In an effort to provide patient choice and alternatives to surgery our


team have also helped set up patient access to APOS therapy, Ossur
‘unloader one’ knee brace for unicompartmental OA

Main duties and  To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, and
responsibilities to organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities
and use of time.

 Clinical triage for referrals that are sent into the service

 To ensure collection of clinical outcomes

 To undertake comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment of patients


including those with a variety of simple to complex presentations.

 To deliver the service on a face-to-face assessment and treatment basis


and, where necessary, refer onward. The post holder is expected to carry
out appropriate clinical risk assessment in clinic settings.

 You may be required participate in the delivery of “Physioline” telephone


based assessment and advice service, alongside clinic based work.

 To work as an autonomous practitioner utilising analytical skills to form an


accurate diagnosis and inform patients of realistic rehabilitation prognosis
and future prospects with respect to work, sport, function etc.

 To identify clinical problems and use clinical reasoning skills to establish


patient-centred goals and draw up treatment plans utilising a wide range of
treatment skills and options; seeking clinical guidance or second opinion as
clinically indicated.

 To continually reassess and evaluate treatment outcomes to facilitate


appropriate discharge or onward referral of patients.

 To communicate effectively with patients of all ages, taking into


consideration their mental health and psychological effects of pain,
trauma, injury etc or dementia, hearing and visual impairments.

 To keep up-to-date with clinical protocols, guidelines, pathways and new


trends, developments and research for the benefit of clinical practice.

Safeguarding 1. All employees and volunteers working within Circle have a responsibility

Compliance Circle provides NHS care under Standard Acute contract and is currently
responsibilities registered and monitored by CCG through their contracts. Its activity is

confidentiality post holder is expected to work in compliance with the Health and Social Care
Act 2012 (Regulated Activities), the Care Quality Commission (Registration)

The post holder must maintain confidentiality of information about staff,


patients and Circle business activities and are expected to respect the
requirements under the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 and Access to
Health Records Act (1990) and any new appropriate legislation that affects safe
patient care within their sphere of working.

Comply with Circle’s Information Security Management Policies, a copy of


which is available online in Insight, to ensure that information systems such as
the internet, intranet access, e-mail, desktop systems, and mobiles are used in
a professional manner for business purposes only. Information held on such
systems must be treated as confidential, especially where that information
relates to patients.

The post holder will comply with all Infection Prevention and Control policies
and take the appropriate action fitting their role to actively prevent or reduce
the incidence of healthcare associated infections.

Staff have a responsibility to reduce and recycle waste and save energy and
water.

Undertake initial and refresher mandatory training to ensure compliance at all


times
