INTRODUCTION

This “Design Guidelines for Canal and Related Structures” was prepared to applied to
canal system design for irrigation sub-projects of DISIMP. In order to standardize and
simplify the design/design review works, modification and finalization of existing designs
of canal system for sub-projects of DISIMP, these design guidelines were prepared by
Nippon Koei as a technical tool. Main references for preparation of the guidelines are
“Kriteria Perencanaan (KP), Bangunan Irigasi (BI) and Persyaratan Teknis (PT) December
in 1986 prepared by Directorate General of Water Recourses Development (DGWRD),
Ministry of Public Works. List of existing design criteria, standards and technical books
referred for the preparation are as follows:
