BOOK INTRODUCTION
This book contains information about the sacred spells and rituals
of the Afro-Brazilian religious tradition of Quimbanda. This
particular book contains information about how to do spells and
powerful rituals for the Spirit, Exu Meia Noite, the Quimbanda
Spirit Exu of 12 Midnight.

EXU MEIA NOITE
RITUAL CEREMONY TO INVOKE THE POWERS OF THE SPIRIT EXU MEIA NOITE
The powerful Quimbanda Spirit, Exu Meia Noite is the patron

spirit of black magicians. This powerful spirit knows the secrets
and rituals of how to cast powerful black magic spells. Exu Meia
Noite is also a powerful healer. He can be petitioned in both
matters of good and evil. This Quimbanda entity is capable of
destroying a person in less than 24 hours, if summoned by
someone who is experienced with doing this type of black magic
spiritual work. Exu Meia Noite should only be summoned and
petitioned in “cases of injustice,” otherwise the affects can turn
on the sender double that which was sent. Exu Meia Noite likes
red and black candles, steak cooked in olive oil, popcorn, rum,
cigars and his sacred hour is 12 (either Midday or Midnight). All of
the above ingredients can be offered to him at the gateway to a
cemetery.
The spirit, Exu Meia Noite has nine spiritual paths. These are:

The spirit, Exu Meia Noite also commands a legion of seven other
Exus who can also be summoned via his call. These are:

EXU MIRIM - works with issues relating to women, children and
marriage.
EXU PIMENTA - works with issues relating to love.
EXU MALE - This is the Exu of Magic and witchcraft.
EXU DAS MONTANHAS - Rules over the mountains and the

waters.
EXU GANGA - Works with issues concerning justice, vengeance.

He can kill as well as save.
EXU KAMINALOA - Said to be one of the most powerful Exus, can

cause madness in a person in less than 24 hours.
EXU QUIROMBO - Works with issues concerning women,

particularly women who have fallen on to a “bad path”.

A RITUAL TO SUMMON THE SPIRIT EXU MEIA NOITE
(FOR ANY REQUEST)
If you have been initiated into the Quimbanda religion and have
the actual mysteries of Exu Meia Noite then the ritual should be
done directly in front of the nganga containing his spiritual
mysteries. If you are not initiated into the Quimbanda mysteries
then you can perform this ritual in front of your spiritual altar to
the Quimbanda Trinity.
Burn Quimbanda Ritual Incense in the magical ritual area where

you will be doing the ceremony. Draw the Quimbanda spirit
signature that represents the Spirit, Exu Meia Noite on the floor
using pemba (ritual chalk) directly in front of the altar of the
Quimbanda Trinity deities. White Pemba can be used for any type
of spell or ritual. Red Pemba is used in domination or control
spells and rituals. Black Pemba is used in black magic spells and
rituals of harm. Place a black candle on top of the spirit signature
that represents Exu Meia Noite. Place a spiritual offering on a
white plate next to the spirit signature. The spiritual offering will
consists of nine balls of cooked corn meal flour, red peppers, palm
oil and honey. Begin the Quimbanda ritual by lighting the black
candle first, and then using your hand, tap the ground in front of
the altar three times.
While lighting the candles recite the following ritual prayers:

After the ritual, take the spiritual offering on the white plate and
leave it at the gate of a cemetery along with an open bottle of
whiskey, nine pennies and nine lighted cigars. Along with the
spiritual offering leave a lighted black candle next to the spiritual
offering.

THE GRAND RITUAL OF EXU MEIA NOITE
THE GRAND RITUAL OF EXU MEIA NOITE TO INVOKE THE POWERS
OF THE DEAD
The following Quimbanda ceremonial ritual is how to invoke the

powers of the dead through the intercession of the Spirit, Exu
Meia Noite. The Grand Ritual of Exu Meia Noite To Invoke The
Powers Of The Dead, is used to summon the intranquil spirits to do
your bidding for any spiritual request.
The ritual must be performed at 12 Midnight on a Full Moon when

the spiritual energies are at their most powerful and the spiritual
portal is open from the Earth directly into the World of the Spirits.
This magical spiritual portal is only open between 12 Midnight

until 3 A.M.
This magical ritual can be done directly in front of the altar of the
Quimbanda Trinity or for the best results in the cemetery in front
of a grave stone in the form or shape of a cross.
If you will be doing this ritual at the cemetery, then use the grave
stone in the form or shape of a cross as your focus altar point.
All grave stones in the form or shape of a cross are the primary
magical location in the cemetery to manifest the powerful
Quimbanda spirits.

STEP ONE
The Grand Ritual of Exu Meia Noite To Invoke The Powers Of The
Dead, uses a ritually prepared black pillar altar candle which must
be prepared with the following ingredients in order to summon
and invoke the Spirit, Exu Meia Noite and the intranquil spirits.
The ritual black candle must be blessed and dressed and then
consecrated before ritual use.
After the black altar pillar candle has been dressed and
consecrated, set it into a candle holder and then place it into and
onto the spirit signature of Exu Meia Noite.
The black altar pillar candle should be ritually consecrated and

dressed by preparing a sacred oil mixture consisting of the
following magical items;
Blessed Olive Oil from a Catholic Church
Human Bone Powder
Magnetic Sand
Crushed Quartz Crystals
AFTER THE CANDLE HAS BEEN CONSECRATED THEN PLACE IT INTO

RITUAL POSITION BEFORE YOU BEGIN THE GRAND RITUAL OF EXU
MEIA NOITE TO INVOKE THE POWERS OF THE DEAD.

STEP TWO
Draw the spirit signature of Exu Meia Noite using pemba in front
of the grave stone in the form or shape of a cross at the foot of it.
Draw a circle around the spirit signature of Exu Meia Noite in a

clockwise position.

STEP THREE
Draw a large magic circle using white pemba (chalk) (7 feet round
in diameter) in a clockwise position directly in front of the grave
stone in the form or shape of a cross.
Draw the spirit signature of the Quimbanda Cross inside of the

magic circle. The spirit signature of the Quimbanda Cross should
be made large enough so as the six points of the Quimbanda Cross
touch the edges of the magic circle.

STEP FOUR
Place the Household candles on the cardinal points of the grave

stone in the form or shape of a cross by melting the bottoms of
each candle and carefully attaching them so that they stick to the
grave stone.

STEP FIVE
Place the dressed black altar candle into a candle holder and then
place it directly into the center of the spirit signature of Exu Meia
Noite.

STEP SIX
Light the incense charcoal and then place it into the metal incense
burner.

STEP SEVEN
Pour the following fragranced oils directly on top of the burning

incense charcoal; Carnation Fragrance Oil, Rose Fragrance Oil and
Cinnamon Fragrance Oil.
-THESE FRAGRANCES ATTRACT THE SPIRITS -

STEP EIGHT
Light the candles on the grave stone in the form or shape of a

cross.

Light the black altar candle. Say the following as you begin
lighting the black altar candle;

Perform the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Quimbanda Cross using

your index finger of the right hand. If you have been initiated into
the Quimbanda mysteries and have the spirit nganga of Exu Rei,
then use the ceremonial sword from his nganga for performing
this ritual. The ceremonial sword of Exu Rei is used as a powerful
magical tool to command the spirits.
THE LESSER BANISHING RITUAL OF THE QUIMBANDA CROSS
Facing East, with the Divine Sword of Exu Rei or using the index
finger from your right hand do the following:
In silence, trace the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Quimbanda

Cross before you in the air using the Divine Sword of Exu Rei.
Turn towards the South with the Divine Sword of Exu Rei or using
the index finger from your right hand do the following:

Turn towards the West with the Divine Sword of Exu Rei or using

Turn towards the North with the Divine Sword of Exu Rei or using

STEP TWELVE
After successfully performing the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the

Quimbanda Cross and the Greater Invoking Ritual of the
Quimbanda Cross then face the front of the grave stone in the
form or shape of a cross with the candles burning on it and say
and do the following;
Using your right hand, make the sign of the Quimbanda Trinity
Cross over your body. The Quimbanda Trinity sign of the Cross is
made by touching the hand sequentially to the forehead, lower
chest or navel area, and right shoulder, then left shoulder and
then placing your hands together in a praying position and then
kissing your hands three times. This is how to say and do this: at
the forehead, IN THE NAME OF NZAMBI; at the naval, IN THE
NAME OF EXU MAIORAL; across to the right shoulder, IN THE
NAME OF EXU REI; across to the right left shoulder, IN THE NAME
OF MARIA PADILLA REINA; and finally to the center of your heart
while placing your hands together in a praying position, SARAVA;
afterwards kiss your hands three times.

STEP THIRTEEN
Using your right hand, tap the foot of the grave stone seven times.

STEP FOURTEEN
Kneel down in front of the grave stone and begin to ring the brass
bell. While ringing the brass bell say the following invocation;
On this most sacred of all nights I do summon you here and invoke
your sacred mysteries to command the intranquil spirits by my
desire and by my command.
By the power of Nzambi and the Quimbanda Trinity, I command

this sacred ritual into being – Sarava.

Stand up and blow smoke from a tobacco cigar directly on to the

grave stone, three times.

Using your mouth, blow Cachaca liquor or whiskey directly on to

the grave stone, three times.

Ring the brass bell and begin to state your spiritual request to Exu
Meia Noite.

STEP EIGHTEEN
After you have completed saying out loud your spiritual request to
the spirits then do the License To Departure Conjuration Ritual;
THE LICENSE TO DEPARTURE CONJURATION RITUAL
A License to Depart is a simple banishing ritual that you will

perform to rid the area of any astral entities and spirits that might
have been attracted to you from the energies you are creating
during these rituals. The License to Departure Conjuration Ritual
can be done in the following ritual by reciting the following:
O Mighty God Nzambi, you are the Creator of the Heavens and the
Earth.
O Mighty God Nzambi you are the great force of all that is seen
and unseen.
O Mighty God Nzambi, by the power invested in me through thy

most sacred and Holy of Holies, the Divine Sword of Exu, I do
banish from this sacred ritual area any and all spirits, beings and
astral entities of any kind whom have been summoned and
gathered here today to assist me in this hloy ritual of Divine
Justice.
O Mighty God Nzambi, by the mighty Sword of Exu, the Divine

Sword of the King of Kings, I grant you the license to depart, so
now return to the realm of God and be on your way.
In the name of Nzambi, the Lord of Heaven, in the name of the

Quimbanada Trinity, Exu Maioral, Exu Rei, Maria Padilla Reina and

the spirits of the Seven Greater Quimbanda Kingdoms and the
spirits of the Seven Lesser Quimbanda Kingdoms, I will this to be

STEPS TO SUCCESSFUL QUIMBANDA SPELL CASTING
1. Familiarize yourself with the particular Lesser Quimbanda Kingdom of

Exu that you will be working with and all of the Chief Exu Spirits which
are guardians of that realm. By familiarizing yourself with the particular
Lesser Quimbanda Kingdom you will be able to decide for yourself if you
are in the correct place for the particular type of spell that you desire.
2. Decide if you will be using the basic spirit signature of the Quimbanda
Cross to perform your spell or if you will be using a particular specific
spirit signature for the specific type of Exu or Pomba Gira that you will
be summoning. If you will be using the general spirit signature of the
Quimbanda Cross then you just need to use three colors of candles.
These colors are Red, Black and White. If you will be using a specific
spirit signature than you will have to decide the appropriate colored
candle which will be set directly on top of the spirit signature after you
have prepared and dressed the candle.
3. Draw or carve the spirit signature of the particular Exu or pomba Gira
that you will be summoning and invoking during the ritual directly on
the outside of the candle. If you will be using a traditional glass encased
religious candle then you can draw the spirit signature with a black
permanent ink marker. If you will be carving the spirit signature on a
pillar or votive candle, you also have the option to carve your desires of
what you want to be the result of the ritual directly on the candle
around the spirit signature. You can aalso do the same using the
permanent ink marker if you will be using the encased religious glass
candle.
4. Dress the candle using the appropriate magical occult oils to enhance
the power of the magical spell or ritual. Candles can be dressed with
one or more different types of occult oils at the same time and rubbed
directly onto the candles to achieve better spiritual results.

5. Light the appropriate magical occult incense during the ritual to
better enhance the magical spell ritual
6. Always use a bell to ring during the magical ritual when invoking the
Quimbanda deities to invite them to the ritual. You can design your own
prayer for your ritual or you can use the general Quimbanda prayer that
I have provided.
7. At the end of every ritual, meditate on your desires for 20 to 30

minutes that you perform the ritual.
8. Rituals should be done for a series of consecutive days. Normally

three consecutive days, seven consecutive days or nine consecutive
days, depending on what your desire is and what your spiritual intent is.
9. You should always take some kind of ritual spiritual bath before
beginning every ritual and you should also cleanse yourself off at the
last day of the ritual using African Black Soap or a spiritual bath of your
choice.
10. Remember, the magic of Quimbanda is very strong and powerful,

but you can be creative with your magical spell ritual without having the
fear of any negative spiritual consequences.

A GENERAL RITUAL USING THE QUIMBANDA CROSS
The Quimbanda Cross spirit signature can be used to invoke and

summon any of the spirits and deities of the Seven Greater Quimbanda
Kingdoms and also for the Seven Lesser Quimbanda Kingdoms.
Draw the Quimbanda Cross using white chalk on the hard surface of a
cement floor. You can also draw the spirit signature of the Quimbanda
Cross with a permanent black ink marker on a white plate.
After drawing the Quimbanda Cross spirit signature then you will fasten
or place a red candle, black candle and a white candle directly into the
center of the Quimbanda Cross and light them in that order to begin
each magical ritual.
Remember that the candles should be carved with the particular spirit
signatures on them and then prepared and dressed with your occult oils
before lighting them.
Don’t forget to use the appropriate magical occult incense for your
desired ritual.

THE QUIMBANDA SPIRIT SIGNATURES (PONTOS RISCADOS)
In the Quimbanda magico-religious tradition, spirit signature sigils (a

sacred mystical seal) are symbols connected to a set of ideas by which
spirits or deities may be summoned to awareness and controlled. The
spirit signature sigils connect the spirits to our earthly realm. In the
Portuguese language they are called “Pontos Riscados”. The spirit
signature sigils when used in the appropriate magical manner open up
the doors to world of the supernatural. They are used in divinatory
practices. The spirit signature sigil itself when drawn out on the ground
or drawn on an object will call forth the spirit. The spirit signature sigil
also serves as a physical focus through which the Quimbanda Priest
achieves the desired state of mind. Spirit signature sigils represent the
secret names of spirits and deities who manifest themselves differently
to each magic practitioner. Once the Quimbanda Priest has summoned
the spirit or deity he may control it, if necessary, by subjecting its sigil to
fire or the use of a magical sword or machete. Spirit signature sigils can
also serve as amulets, talismans, or meditation tools. Quimbanda spirit
signature sigils may be of various signs, such as crosses, tridents, stars
associated with different deities. Quimbanda Priests often times
inscribe the spirit signature sigil on ceremonial ritual objects, candles or
objects of silver, brass, gold, or glass. Such spirit signatures sigils are
considered to be magically powerful. Quimbanda Priests also draw
these very sacred and powerful spirit signature sigils directly on the
ground in front of the spirit ngangas of the Quimbanda Spirits to invoke
and to summon the deities to appear and to send them to do their
bidding. The following Quimbanda spirit signature sigils (Pontos
Riscados) can be used when doing the Quimbanda magical spells and
rituals from this book and when making magical talismans and amulets.
