Everyone experiences love differently through every period of their life. Some have more
positive experiences with love and others are so lucky. And in some instances, there are some
people who will never fall in love at all. In this essay, I will be comparing two examples of this
idea with “ Fool for You” by Ceelo Green and Snoh Aalegra. Both songs show and artist’s
experience with being in love and how they experienced it. Even though Snoh Aalegra and Ceelo
Green’s versions of “Fool for You” are both love songs, the type of love described are in contrast
with each other. As a result, the type of song will attract a different audience.
In Snoh Aalegra’s version of the song, she is talking about a relationship where she
knows she is not happy but being that she loves this person, she stays. The reason she is not
pleased in the relationship is that it is starting to remind her of a past relationship. The songs’
lyrics go on to further describe this and Snoh’s dilemma of wanting to be with a person but
knowing this relationship is not going to work for her. The same pattern appears from the
previous relationship and she takes it into consideration with the current one, “ I leave and I
come back again, I'm a Fool For You, I love you time and time again I know just how the story
ends.” This is important because one of the main themes of the song is knowing you should not

be in a relationship but staying anyway because you love someone. This part of the song shows
this theme.
In Ceelo Green's version of the song, he is talking about being in love and how amazing
it felt to fall in love with her. Being in love with her is worth every up and down they go through
and he expresses it in this song.“That real that deep that burning the amazing unconditional
inseparable love”, it's how the song starts. Throughout the song, he praises the feeling that this
woman gives him. There are people who doubt the way he feels about this person but he does not
want to listen to them because of how she makes him feel when they are together. “ So rare they
swear that YOU! Just don’t exist - and there's only one person I can think of make me feel like
this”. He feels very passionate about this woman and makes the extremely clear, going into
detail declaring his love for this woman. Ceelo Green uses this song as a love letter to describe
In both songs, the artists are talking about love and how the people they love are affecting
them directly. Both artists use a similar theme of being in love with someone but the messages
are portrayed in very different ways. In Ceelo Green’s version, the love he describes is a love he
wants to hold on to forever and wishes everyone could feel the same way about someone. In
Snoh Aalegra’s version, she loves the person but being with them is not beneficial for either one
of them, but she is staying with them anyway. The person she loves is doing something that is
reminding her of a past partner and she knows staying in this relationship will not be good for
her in any way. Knowing this key difference in the songs is important because both songs have
an underlying theme of love but one has a more serious lesson than the other.

The audiences a different as well. Both songs are R&B but the type of R&B is different
regarding the tone of both songs. Aalegera’s version has more of a gloomy tone which is
portrayed through the overall tone of the song. This is done with the melody and the lyrics in
which she talks about figuratively running away from this person but in end decides to stay. This
version is also geared more towards a younger audience who may be in the dating phase of a
relationship. Greene's version is very upbeat. It appeals to an older audience and more so toward
couples and people in love. Both songs use pathos to convey the overall theme.
The rendition done by Snoh Aalegra is about loving someone but knowing the
relationship with work out. This differs from Ceelo Green’s version where he is deeply in love
and wants to share this feeling with the world. Both versions of “Fool for You” talk about love
and how people experience it. The tones of the songs are different changing the context and
audiences of the songs. In conclusion, the love described in both songs are different but share a
