PUBLIC SPEAKING:

I AM A NOYPI

Luzon ,Visayas,Mindanao. I'm standing here infront , to enlighten and wake you up from a nightmare you
always ignore a long time ago. The traditions that are slowly disappearing, filipino beliefs..faded away,
forgetting all the numerous cultures are the bad dreams that put us worst.

The world is unpredictable that you would not always know what's good and bad. To know and choose
the peaceful things over complicated ones is a blessing. Everything take place, but you.Yes you,as a
filipino. As a citizen living in the Philippines, have you ever justify yourself as one?And to be called as a

Filipino?

Your skin color is brown, your features are round. Your parents are Filipinos , you grew in the Philippines.
You eat sinigang and tinola. You like the taste of bagoong and pindang damulag. The sound of crunchy
tuyo and chicharon is what you love. Is it enough? Will it always be enough?

Jose Rizal once said "Ang kabataan ang pagasa ng bayan". But, as time passes by people change and so as
their personality. When you look around , the generation today is way too different than the past years.

We used to say po and opo to the elders. We used to be a fan of our own products and designs. We used
to be conservative . We used to have love for the nature. We used to be fond of our own
songs, arts, dance and the artists. But today? Most youth are very vulnerable that in every changes , they
accept it without thinking what they can do better for their country.

Have you ever heard the love story of Maria Clara and Crisostomo Ibarra? The tragic love story of
Tungkung Langit to his wife Alunsina? How about the tricky story of "Si Pilandok at ang manok na
nangingitlog ng manok?

Might be , you rather be updated about Shawn and Camilla's status relationship and memorized all the
group members of one kpop goup band without knowing who are the ancestors that freed our country.
Sad to admit, but yes these are all true!

We were colonized by the Spaniards,Americans and Japanese for a very long time. Filipinos don't have
freedom and rights. Imagine that the people were chained in their own homeland.

So think about it, what we have right now, what we are experiencing today is all because of the people
who fought for the country and so to be always called a Filipino. "Ang mamatay ng dahil sayo" as the last
lyrics of our National Anthem is a very important line that signifies the unconditional love of a Filipino for
his own homeland. The flag symbolizes the nation's freedomiThis identity, to be called a Filipino ,
supposed to be burried a long time ago. But look, here we are , freely breathing and standing in our
beloved homeland.
Have you ever wonder what will be the best thing you can do for your country as a filipino?

Being a Filipino, indeed, is not that easy. I even doubt it at times because of the kind of government that
we have. One of the worst of those is to be tagged as one of the most corrupt country all-over-the-
world. Aside from that, it also pains me to hear that Mindanao is considered as a barbaric island because
of the bombings and terrorism. News are all about war on drugs and criminal cases.

We , Filipino experience the freedom we always wanted. We have our independency day to rind us that
we are once involved in an inhumane colonization but here we are right now standing. Not just standing
because we got it.We are proud standing with dignity and strong perception.

Some values may have changed through time but the blood that runs in our veins does not make us any
less of a Filipino. We have wonderful cultures, amazing foods ,beautiful languages and great homeland.

We are Filipinos because no matter what we will still remain deep-seated to our cultures and traditions.

We are the future, we have the power and the knowledge to preserve and love this country more. To
shout to the world that i am a "noypi" and my Philippines is my beloved country!

From North to South, East to West! Let's bring back the old ways and traits. Let's all have delicate and
grace. Spread love and face your responsibilities to have a better country.

Being a Filipino is something rooted deep within us because same with our heroes and heroines
mentioned in our history, they fought not for war, but for independence. I love being a Filipino, proud,
honored and dignified to be a real and embedded Filipino from head to foot, from left to right, inside and
out.

And I will always be proud to say “sa isip, sa diwa at sa gawa”, truly "PINOY AKO"
