USAGE Dulux Epoxy Holding Primer Two Pack is a two part primer for airless or
conventional spray application to blast cleaned steel at works or after
fabrication.It is suitable for use as an economical primer over blast cleaned
surfaces limited periods, prior to the application of the full protective
coating system
PACK SIZE 2.5 Litre unit comprising Base : 1.7 Litre and Activator : 0.8 Litre

FILM PROPERTIES Chemical Resistance: Resistant against splashes and spillage of common
acids, alkalis, solvents and salt solutions
Water Resistance: Excellent
Heat Resistance: Can be used on heated surfaces above 120°C
COMPOSITION Pigment: Red Oxide
Binder: Polyamide Cured Epoxy
Solvent: Aromatic Hydrocarbon and Glycol Ethers
VOLUME SOLIDS 41-42% (nominal)
POT LIFE Up to 8 hours at 30°C

Please note that the reaction of epoxies commences immediately after the
two components are mixed. This reaction is temperatures related and so
the curing time will be approximately halved by 10°C increase in
temperature and doubled by a 10°C decrease in temperature

THEORETICAL Practical coverage under normal conditions is 14-20 m²/litre

SPRAY It is important that Base and Activator are at a minimum temperature of
RECOMMENDATION 15°C when mixed for satisfactory spray application
Airless Spray: A typical recommendation for airless spray application is a
minimum working pressure on paint of 140 Kg/cm² (2000 lb/sq. in) with a
spray tip size 0.45-0.53mm (18-21 thou) at an angle of 60-80°
CLEANING UP Clean all equipment with Dulux Thinner 850-761 or 850-1015 immediately
after use
SURFACE PREPARATION For optimum performance blast clean bare steel or surfaces in poor
condition to BS 7079 Part A1 :1989 Sa.2.5 to give an appropriate surface
profile

Finish (2 coats): Dulux Epoxy Tank & Chemical Resistant Finish (R430))

It is important to ensure that the substrate temperature is at least 3oC

above dew point.
The minimum temperature for application is 10oC. Relative humidity
should not exceed 85%.
NOTE: Where the Primer or Dulux Epoxy Holding Primer Two Pack has
been left exposed over a period of time it will be necessary to thoroughly
prepare the surface by removing all dirt, oil, wax, rusts, salt, etc before the
overpainting. Where rusting of peaks has occured on blast cleaned steel,
flash blasting or thorough manual preparation followed by spot priming with
an appropriate primer will be required

ENVIRONMENTAL OPERATORS
INFORMATION HIGHLY FLAMMABLE
Store in accordance with the appropriate regulations
Keep container tightly close and keep out of reach of children.
Keep away from sources of ignition. No smoking
When applying by brush to large surface areas inside or using in small
confined spaces, it will be necessary to use air supplied breathing
equipment. When applying for short period only a suitable cartridge mask
may be worn providing the filter is changed regularly
Avoid contact with skin and eyes
Do not breathe vapour/spray. In case of insufficient ventilation during
spraying wear suitable respiratory equipment
All respiratory equipment must meet an appropriate approved standard
When applying paint it is advisable to wear suitable eye protection
In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and
seek medical advice
Remove splashes from skin : use soap and water or a recognised skin
cleaner
Care must be taken when transporting paint. Keep container in a secure
up-right position
Protect from extremes of temperature. Store in cool place
In the event of accident contain and collect spillage using sand or earth
Dispose of any paint waste in accordance with the appropriate
