Quercus Recognition Rate Tool

1. Introduction
Recognition Rate Tool application allows classifying images and creating statistics based on the

images captured by SmartLPR Access units. These images must be all saved in the same folder

(subfolders are not allowed) and the application will show them one by one for the user to classify

them.

2. Application

2.1. Installation

Before running this tool, you should have all the images saved on an independent folder from

where Recognition Rate Tool will take the images to analyze.

When running for the first time the application, a pop-up window will appear asking you to choose

the folder where the images are saved.

After choosing the folder, the application will start providing you with images to classify.

The application has four areas:

1) Area where the image and the recognitions are shown;

2) Statistics – go to Section 4. Statistics to know more about the way they are calculated;

3) Actions available – displayed below the image. Go to Section 3. Actions to know more about

what each action can do.

4) Recognition area – shows the recognized license plate and information about its grammar.

3. Actions
There are 5 available actions the user can apply on the image shown; when an action is chosen, the

image goes accordingly to the subfolder (in the folder indicated by the user) with a name similar to

the action taken (eg: a subfolder called «OK», a different one called «Wrong», etc.). Once the action is

taken, the statistics are updated accordingly.

The table below describes all the actions that can be taken and the folder where the images will be

stored according to the action.

Please note that the actions can be enabled by clicking on a button or by using hot keys.

The available actions are:

Action Description Destination folder

Ok (ALT+O) The recognition is correct; statistics will be updated and the Recognitions/OK

image will be moved to OK folder.

1 The recognition has 1 wrong character; statistics will be Recognitions/N1

(ALT+1) updated and the image will be moved to N1 folder.

2 The recognition has 2 wrong characters; statistics will be Recognitions/N2

(ALT+2) updated and the image will be moved to N2 folder.

Wrong The recognition is not correct; statistics will be updated and the Recognitions/Wrong

(ALT+W) image will be moved to Wrong folder.

Invalid The image does not allow the recognition of any license plate; Recognitions/Invalid

(ALT+I) This image will not be updated in the statistics. The image is

moved to Invalid folder.

Once selected, the action is applied and the next image is shown. When you exit the application, all the

statistics will be saved in case you want to continue later.
