- Business led Self-service external BI: A user (advisor) from Maritime is creating large PDF reports for
customer x and y based on risk calculations (normally done in Excel). They want to be enable and
foster discussions on the data rather than handing them a static report every quarter.
- Corporate Internal BI: A user from Oil and Gas had a report in another tool where IT was building the
report. The report was not helping him make decisions. The user in collaboration with IT builds a MVP
in Power BI. The report becomes the most used report in the org. Now it’s growing to other business
areas.
- From Business led self-service BI to «Corporate» External BI: A person in the organization see’s the
need to have a risk model introduced across various safety data sources (internal and external data)
presented to existing and new customers. They don’t know what they want yet. A SME starts building
the report without any DAX, M ++ knowledge with data extracted from existing reports. IT takes over
and collaborates with business applying Agile methods and scalability into the solution.
