At first I would like to say that I’m very glad to participate in


t h i s pr o g r a m m a n d h a v e a n o p p o r t u n i t y t o s t u d y a t t h e B r e m e n
U n i v e r s i t y. I ’ m gr a t e f u l t o t h e p e o p l e w h o h a v e t h o u g h t t hi s
pr o j e c t u p , w h o a r e i m p l e m e n t i n g t h i s pr o j e c t i n . S o , s p e c i a l
t h a n k s t o P r of . D r. L i e b e r t , Pr o f . D r. Z i m m e r m a n n , M r s . Ly s i a k ,
Mrs. Buemmerstede and all people who is concerning on and
participating in the project.
A s i t i s c l e a r f r o m a b o v e , I c a m e h er e o n t h e 1 4 t h of
S e p t e m b e r. T h e s e m e s t e r h a s n o t s t a r t e d y e t a n d t h a t w a s u n u s u a l
f o r m e a s i n R u s s i a w e b e g i n o n t h e 1 s t of S e p t e m b e r. S o , I
decided to spend my time here in the most useful way at that
moment and took a brief German course, which has lasted till the
b e g i n n i n g of s e m e s t e r i n t h e m i d d l e o f O c t o b e r. T h i s c o u r s e t o o k
p l a c e i n t h e U n i v er s i t y w i t h a n e x c e l l e n t p e r f or m a n c e p r o v i d e d b y
t e a c h e r o f G er m a n l a n g u a g e Wi l m a Wi n t e r.
What classes have I chosen? My specialization is management
a n d e c o n o m y. I n S t . P e t e r s b u rg St a t e U n i v e r s i t y I g o t a b a c h e l o r
degree in the year 2001 and at the present time I’m a second year
s t u d e n t o f t h e “ M a s t e r o f I n t e r n a t i o n a l B u s i n e s s ” p r o gr a m . H e n c e ,
here in Bremen I have taken classes of the same branch of
science. At the moment I’m attending all classes, which are
i n c l u d e d i n “ M a s t e r o f B u s i n e s s S t u d i e s ” p r o gr a m , t h e p r o gr a m o f
e c o n o m i c f a c u l t y of B r e m e n U n i v er s i t y. T h i s p r o gr a m i s r a t h e r
br o a d c o n s i s t i n g o f s e v e r a l c l a s s e s a m o n g w h i c h ar e :
 International Financial Management;
 Business German;
 I n t e r n a t i o n a l P r oj e c t M a n a g e m e n t ;
 International Management;

classes I naturally have additional studies at home: working on
pr e s e n t a t i o n s I w i l l m a k e , r e p o r t s , r e a d i n g s , d i s c u s s i o n s e t c . I
have already made a pr e s e n t a t i o n in “T h e E ur o s y s t e m :
Centralization versus Decentralization” class and I’m going to
m a k e a n o t h e r o n e i n “ I n t er n a t i o n a l P r o j e c t M a n a g e m e n t ” .
B e s i d e s t h o s e M B S c l a s s e s I ’ m a t t e n d i n g “ Tr a n s f o r m a t i o n a n d
i d e n t i t i e s i n E ur o p e a n s o c i e t i e s ” c o n f er e n c e s , w h i c h t a k e p l a c e
e v e r y Tu e s d a y e v e n i n g . A t t h a t p l a c e I c a n m e e t s o m e o f t h e m o s t
i n t e l l i g e n t p e o p l e a n d d i s c u s s i nt e r e s t i n g t o p i c s .
A s I h a v e u n d e r s t o o d t h i s “ Tr a n s f or m a t i o n a n d i d e n t i t i e s i n
E u r o p e a n s o c i e t i e s ” pr o j e c t h a d b e e n s u p p o s e d t o b e v a l i d u p t o
t h e e n d o f t h e c a l e n d a r y e a r o n l y. A n d I ’ m g l a d t o k n o w t h a t i t
h a s b e e n pr o l o n g e d a n d I h a v e a c h a n c e t o s t a y h e r e l o n g e r. B u t
actually the point is not only in fact of having a possibility to
s t a y h e r e l o n g e r, b u t b y m e a n s o f t h i s pr o l o n g a t i o n I h a v e a n
o c c a s i o n t o t a k e e x a m s a n d t h e r e f or e t o e n d m y c l a s s e s i n a v e r y
l o g i c w a y. A n d t h i s t h i n g , I w o u l d s a y, i s o n e o f t h e cr u c i a l
t h i n g s . A n d f r o m m y p o i n t of v i e w t h i s p r o g r a m s h o u l d a l w a y s b e
at least 1 semester long as a student could end her or his classes
a n d g e t r e s u l t s w h i c h c o u l d b e a l s o i nt e r e s t i n g , i n p ar a l l e l w i t h
r e p or t s like this, for people who are evaluating this
“Tr a n s f o r m a t i o n a n d i d e n t i t i e s i n E ur o p e a n s o c i e t i e s ” p r o j e c t .
So, that is a thing good to have. However these results could
b e v a l u a b l e f or m e , f o r t h e pr o g r a m e v a l u a t i o n b u t n o t f or m y
h o m e u n i v e r s i t y. I w i s h m y r e s u l t s w o u l d m e a n s o m e t h i n g t h e r e .
T h e p r o bl e m i s t h a t b e i n g h e r e c a u s e s s o m e t r o u b l e s f or m e t h e r e .
W h e n I w i l l c o m e t h er e I w i l l b e s u p p o s e d t o p a s s , i n a r e l a t i v e l y
short period of time, all exams, which I would have if I stayed at
h o m e . F r a n k l y s p e a k i n g , i t i s n o t t h a t b i g p r o b l e m f or m e a s I ’ m
sure in passing all exams, but for other students, which could be
unattracted with the fact that they will loose a semester or have a
r e a l l y h ar d o n e . S o , t o m y m i n d i t w o u l d b e a g o o d i d e a t o h a v e
s o m e s o - c a l l e d “ t r a n s f e r c r e d i t s ” a s E R A S M U S pr o g r a m h a s , t o
a v o i d s u c h ki n d o f d i ff i c u l t i e s l a t e r o n .
So, that was about what have been done and about my
pr o p o s a l s a s w e l l . A s f or m y p l a n s f o r t h e r e s t o f t h e t i m e I t h i n k
t h er e w o n ’t b e b i g d i ff e r e n c e s f r o m t h i n g s I h a v e d o n e . I w i l l
c o n t i n u e m y s t u d i e s , m a k e s o m e pr o j e c t s a n d p r e s e n t a t i o n s a n d
take exams. Also, I have a plan, which is a bit far from studies –
I ’ m e a g e r t o t r a v e l ar o u n d E ur o p e .
At the end I would like to say again that I’m happy to be
here, to p ar t i c i p a t e in Tr i l a t e r a l multidisciplinary academic
e x c h a n g e p r o j e c t “ Tr a n s f o r m a t i o n a n d i d e n t i t i e s i n E u r o p e a n
s o c i e t i e s ” a n d h a v e a n o p p or t u n i t y t o s t u d y a t B r e m e n U n i v e r s i t y.
