Director E/M welcome speech………

Good Morning Dignitaries

First of all, I would like to congratulate Mr Mukesh Kumar Sharma for promotion as Director
(Operations) of DTL.

MES Delhi Cantt is highly delighted for getting the chance of hosting the 22nd Grid
Coordination Committee meeting which is the apex coordination forum of Delhi Power
Sector.

MES is the premier construction agency which provides rear line engineering support to the
Armed Forces. It is one of largest construction and maintenance agencies in India.

There is a shift of power generation from conventional resources to renewable resources for
sustainable development. The economics of solar PV and wind power has shifted the entire
market towards them but has resulted in less reliability and instability in grid operation due
to intermittent period of generation with high variability and multiple power generation units
integrating to the grid. To meet this growing challenge higher level of discipline and
monitoring and optimization is required for grid stability. The challenge to minimize gap
between drawl and schedule has become far more difficult at present than in past.

The mammoth task of days grid stability requires self-discipline, dynamic optimization of grid,
incorporation of digital information and controls technology for optimized grid operation,
deployment of smart technologies, cheap energy storage technologies and integration of
distributed resources and generations.

MES Delhi Cantt have recently installed SCADA System at all 33/11 kV Substations with
interface with DTL for centralized monitoring and control. We have started power purchase
through IEX and are in process of installation of prepaid meters. We have installed many roof
top Solar plants of various capacities and many are in pipeline. We are having best minimum
sustained deviations and DSM management in Delhi despite being small utility.
At the end, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all stake holders of Delhi Power Sector
for providing MES Delhi Cantt their best services.
