I decided to make a review for it as a series and not individually because I might

not be able to control myself and give some spoilers. I also need to be making more
reviews for other books that I have come to love.
Let me just say that I owe my love for books to this special creation of J.K.
Rowling. Back in high school, I never actually liked reading, let alone take notice of any
reading material since I find reading exhaustingly tedious. One of my teachers would
always point out the beauties of reading but growing in a rural area where reading is
simply not part of the people’s routine we couldn’t care less of what she’s emphasizing.
Although all of it changed when I got into college, my classmates would frequently go to
the library to look for books to read. They already like books and was trying to get a hold
of the Harry Potter series which I didn’t know was a book then since all I know is the
movie. Now, looking back I kind of felt that I cheated the book by watching the movie
first but the thing is that I had a copy of the very first movie and I fell in love with it that
when I realized that we had copies of the books in the library I felt the need to see it for
myself.
After taking turns with each other finishing the books, they would often talk about
certain scenes that they like and hate and I would find myself shut off because I only
have references from the movie which when compared now is really infinitesimal. From
then, I was eventually convinced to borrow a copy of the first book and find myself
immersed with every character that I eventually finished it in four nights. Yes, it took me
that long because I have studies to take care of at the time.
So you see, I just feel the need to make my first post to be about the Harry Potter
Series by J.K. Rowling. The Series has seven books, all of which I have read. Its order
is as follows: (1) Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone or Harry Potter and The
Philosophers Stone; (2) Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets; (3) Harry Potter and
the Prisoner of Azkaban; (4) Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire; (5) Harry Potter and
The Order of the Phoenix; (6) Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince; and (7) Harry
Potter and The Deathly Hallows. Each book tackles each school year of an orphaned
boy named Harry Potter who has never known magic existed but was invited to a magic
school, Hogwarts. He meets friends, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley and together
they try to stop the evil forces lurking just about the magical society and their very
school grounds.
For all of the people out there who thinks that it’s a lot of work to do and would
just like to watch the movie, by all means do but bear in mind that when you talk about
the movies with a reader be ready for information over load because you can’t squeeze
all the exciting events of this book to an hour and a half of movie.
Furthermore, there are also some slight changes in the movie compared to the
book, which is probably always the case as to why, as readers, we should read first the
book and then watch the movie. For a first-time reader then, I liked how the vocabulary
used was so friendly or easy to understand, after all I am not a native speaker of the
English language. I also like the transition from a scene to another because you don’t
get lost while reading, unlike other novels when you just realize you’re already reading a
different scene. But I guess ultimately, I loved it because it’s set inside a school and
some situations are relatable. You might even find counterparts of the characters in your
real life. Although, they had it better because they have magic and sweets with all
flavors available and they get to be in adventures to fight evil all while meeting
interesting people and creatures.
Finally, I will give 4 stars to this gem. You might be thinking why, despite my
praises, I didn’t give it a perfect 5. It’s just that I would have wanted for some of the
characters to live and others to be with different persons as lovers. Haha. I’m trying my
best not to spoil for others who have not yet read it so let’s just leave it at that. After you
read the series, you will know what I mean and maybe then you would agree or
disagree.
