 PLDT Infoteach Outreach Program


- It started in year 2004 spearheaded by PLDT Community Relations that
provides learning opportunities to high school students as well as elementary
and high school teachers from across the nation by upgrading their cyber
technology skills through basic IT education.

In 2009, PLDT together with Netopia Training Academy and IT giant Microsoft
introduced the Infoteach Computer Advance Course which provides scholars
with a more in-depth IT education after which they were given the much
sought after Microsoft Certificate.

To date there are around 8,000 public high school students and public
elementary and high school graduates.

In 2012, in partnership with University of the Philippines Open University


(UPOU), Philippine Community eCenter Network (PhilCeCNet0 – taking
Infoteach Outreach Program to greater heights covering municipalities from
Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Using Intel curricula/modules entitled “Skills
for Success” for high school students and Intel Teach: Getting Started Course
for the teachers. Qualified teacher graduates offered scholarship in UPOU.
 PLDT eLearning Ville Program
- A multi-sectoral program aimed at making a certain area of the
community/town a learning hub through technology with PLDT donating
computer units and facilitated provision of internet access for the
establishment of a Community eCenter.
 PLDT Adopt-A-School Program
- In partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and Philippine
Business for Social Progress (PBSP) ComRel played a key role in the
donation of a school building (2 storey building with 6 classrooms) including a
computer laboratory in Catmon Elementary School in Malabon called the
“Paaralang Laan sa Dunong at Talino” in support of PBSP’s Step-Up Project.
This is to show PLDT’s image as a community partner with a resolve in
fostering education.
 Smart Schools Program
- The Smart Schools Program (SSP) bridges the digital divide by democratizing
access to devices, connectivity, online content and teacher training on
Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

From 2004 to 2011, the Smart Schools Program partnered with 652 public
elementary and secondary schools, its officials and parents-teachers-
community associations (PTCAs) in 17 regions and 71 provinces, providing
ICT trainings to 13,514 teachers ultimately benefitting 789,070 students.

Through the Program, 50 teachers also received heir Masters in Instructional


Media and Design from the University of Makati.

For its unique contribution to ICT, the Program received 11 awards in its 7-
year run.
 Globe GCash
- It is a BSP-regulated mobile money service that lets you buy load, purchase
items, send and receive money, pay bills and more using Globe, TM or any
other network. Its like having wallet inside your phone giving you hassle-free
and safer ways to go cashless.
 Paymaya
- It is the pioneer in mobile money and payment, having established brands
such as PayMaya, the first prepaid online payment app that enables the
financially underserved to pay online without a credit card; PayMaya
business, the company’s system solutions provider that allows businesses to
receive online and card payments anytime, anywhere; Smart money, the
world’s first e-wallet linked to a mobile phone; and Smart padala, the leading
remittance network in the Philippines with over 15,000 agents across the
country. PayMaya Philippines is a subsidiary of Voyager Innovations, the
digital innovations company of PLDT and Smart.
 DICT-UNDP PIPOL KONEK
- Aims to provide free broadband Internet access to 1,634 Class 1-6
municipalities and cities nationwide. It is the frist of its kind in South East Asia
in terms of scope: Nationwide Coverage, with 18 Points of Presence (PoP)
across the Philippines.
 BaLinkBayan
- It is a one-stop online portal dedicated to the overseas Filipino. It is a means
to connect Filipino individuals and communities to the Philippines through the
Diaspora to Development (D2D) program of the CFO. Long term pursuit for
inclusive and sustainable growth is driven by the collective strength of
overseas Filipinos that can serve as catalysts to fuel Philippine economic
development.
 PhilGEPS
- What has become PhilGEPS today had its beginnings as the Pilot Electronic
Procurement System (Pilot EPS) in November 2000. By utilizing the
accessibility of the internet, the EPS was established with the assistance of
the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) as a common portal
for registration of suppliers and advertisement of bid oppurtunities.

The PhilGEPS is presently managed by an Executive Director III who reports


to the Procurement Policy Board. The PhilGEPS management office consists
of 43 officers and staff who perform the following critical tasks:
Formulate, recommend and implement long and short range plans and
strategies relative to the PhilGEPS project.
Regularly report to the GPPB and PS-PhilGEPS Executive Director IV
on the status of the project.
Manage the contract/service level agreements with the outsourced
system developers and service provider.
Administer the PhilGEPS system including the registration and
provision o helpdesk services to the agencies and suppliers.
Develop and maintain the PhilGEPS Business Plan
Monitor and evaluate the compliance of agencies and suppliers in the
use of the PhilGEPS; and
Update and improve market research and promote the use of the
PhilGEPS for both government and private entities.
The PhilGEPS has brought significant benefits to the government in terms of the
following:
Improved transparency in government procurement.
Enhanced competition and realization of value for money in procurement.
Improved administrative efficiencies.
Reduction in procurement costs, including newspaper advertisements
Provision of audit trails through information posted in the system; and
Serves as a medium in implementation of government procurement
policies, transparency and good governance measures
The expansive database of information in PhilGEPS aids government
agencies in procurement planning and monitoring
Merchants – i.e suppliers and contactors doing business with government derive
the following gains from using the system:
Access to government bid opportunities 24 hours a day and 7 days a
week
Downloading of electronic bid documents
Automatic notification, through the user’s email, of bid postings and
supplements
Savings on newspaper costs, transportation and manhours
Information on government bid projects is important in market research
and in making business decisions
