NOSTALGIA*

“WHERE WE MAKE OR TAKE OUR HISTORY TOGETHER”

A PROPOSED TWO STOREY COMMERCIAL BUILDING
A MODERN CONTEMPORARY STYLE

The past is not just a foreign country, but also one we are all
exiled from. Like all exiles, we sometimes long to return. That
longing is called nostalgia.
- Tom Stafford

What is nostalgia?

Nostalgia is a sentimentality for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal
associations, but originally, it’s “Homesickness”. This might strike to you to a negative thought, but for me,
negative thoughts or happenings in life are when the silver linings in life shines most. This is when we
remember our past, nourish it, and be proud of what we are and we have today.

Why is it GOOD for you?

Do you remember when you where a kid you had a favorite toy, a very nice shirt you always love to
wear because it fits perfectly on you, a lovely dog, a food that you really love that however you cook it only
your Mom can make it so perfectly for you and suddenly in your old days, you saw a toy that looks exactly like
yours, wear a shirt that has the same perfect feeling that you always wanted when you started to collect a
nice shirts, saw a dog that has the same lovely eyes as the ones you had on your childhood and taste a dish
that only makes you remember your beloved mother. Those moments will surely makes you nostalgic. You
might feel sad, but surely makes you happy for remembering it.

Nostalgia may also act as a resource that we can draw on to connect to other people and events, so
that we can move forward with less fear and greater purpose.

This is where I know that a commercial building is a great instrument to use to fulfill the sense of being
nostalgic while helping the users to nourish their past with us, while helping them today to the best of our
knowledge for them to achieve a brighter tomorrow.

How can we achieve this and When?

At a given circumstances. A user, enjoying the day on site might saw a dress, toy, food or an event or
something the user wanted sometime in childhood or had it in his/her past. The user might feel nostalgic
about it and start to be interested on that specific item or event. That moment is where we will help the user
to know more about it and be much more engage to it and be eager to buy or join it for the user’s sake alone
or for the user’s family, to cultivate, and enjoy the memories the user’s once he/she had it or wanted it
sometime in his/her life but now in a different time frame where the user can enjoy it for the first time or have
that feeling where you have it for the first time.
