The “Pig” is a short story written about the life of a small boy named Lexington and his

elderly aunt Glospen. Orphaned when still a baby with immediate family member
choosing to adopt due to his parents being heavily indebted upon their death. Aunt
Glospen steps in to take the young boy into her care. Aunt Glopsen lives humbly in a
small isolate cottage in Virginia. She is a strict vegetarian and as the months pass she
decides to Home school young Lexington, in part due to her strict way of life and her fear
that Lexington would be fed meat in the local village school. The cooking lessons that his
aunt taught were his favourite subject and he excelled, before you know it he had
amassed more than nine thousand vegetarian recipes. He was hoping in the future to
write a cookbook titled “Eat Good & Healthy”

Discovering one day his Aunt Glospen dead, he did what he knew to do and buried her
in the garden. Aunt Glospen had left him an envelope which contained one hundred
dollars and instructions to go to the village and fetch a death certificate from the local
doctor, then to travel to NY to see her lawyer who had the `particulars of the last will and
testament. The lawyer took advantage of Lexington and only revealed an inheritance of
fifteen thousand and not the true amount of five hundred thousand. However he left
happily having no experience with such a quantity of money.

Lexington then goes out for a meal, he couldn’t believe just how amazing the meal was
and was behaving very strangely lost in each bite, the wait staff were looking at him in
some amusement, When discovering that he was served roast pork and cabbage he was
confused remembering the words of his aunt describing just how foul pork tasted.
Lexington wanted to talk to the chef to learn how to prepare and cook pork; he was
surprised that the pig was not slaughtered at the restaurant and so made his way to the
slaughter house

Upon arriving at the slaughter house he was surprised to see a line of people, he waited
in line and when he entered he was confronted with the sight of pigs being shackled on
the way to slaughter, suddenly he feels himself being hoisted in the air and suspended
by his leg, screaming in pain he goes unheard, as he starts to faint suspended above a
big cauldron of boiling water, sharp knife, throat slit, white gloves .Lexington passes
from this life to the next
