Dear Parents/Guardians,
The winter aspect of the Outdoor Education Programme for Year 7-11 is approaching. You
will remember that the initial charge for the programme covered both summer and winter
activities and so there is no additional charge for the activities described below.
Students will have the opportunity to explore cross-country skiing (skating) and snow-
shoeing. The snow shoe sessions will have a different pedagogical focus depending on the
year group which is detailed below.
Cross-country skiing will take place in La Vattay, France and snow-shoeing in the Swiss
Jura. Skis and snow-shoes will be provided by the school.

Pedagogical focus for snow-shoeing
Transportation - Buses will leave from school at 08.15 and be back at 15.30.
Food – Students who normally eat a hot meal at school each day will receive a picnic. All
other students should bring a picnic lunch and snacks from home.
Clothing – All students should wear sufficiently warm and water-proof clothing and gloves.

Documents – The ski resort in La Vattay for cross-country skiing is in France. We can take
photocopies of passports with us, provided that the original document is valid and at home.
This photocopy should be included with the sign-up form and handed in by Thursday 9th
December. If your child requires a visa to enter France please also include a photocopy of
the visa.
Please fill out and sign the attached form by Thursday, 9 December which will inform us
of your emergency details and any allergies or food requirements your child may have.
Please ask your child to hand the permission slip to their Homeroom teacher.
