Symptom
System triggers an Error while performing Migration of Bills of material at Step 3: Simulate Import

Error detected in source record DEF(DEF refers to BOM id)

Component DEF is locked.

Environment
SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

1. Go to Business Configuration workcenter.
2. Select Overview subview.
3. Select Activities.
4. Search for Activity Migration of Bills of Material.
5. Select Migrate bills of material using the migration tool
6. Having file and Select "execute migration step by step

Error appears at Step 3: Simulate Import

Error detected in source record DEF

Component DEF is locked

Cause
Lock error is being thrown on the records which have some of the input products in common.
While creating the instances the material will be in the lock mode due to parallel sessions, because of
which the error occurs.

Some of the product KLM(KLM refers to product id) are common among BOM DEF.

Resolution
Split the file into 2 files by separating the records with the locking error and try migrating again.
