Extended Learning Quarter 2

Dear Mrs. Albertalli,

My name is Lily and I am writing to you from Saratoga Springs, New York. I’m writing
to you because I’m not going to lie, I am a big fan of yours. Last fall, I read what is now one of
my favorite books of all time, What If It’s Us. Of course, you wrote the book, otherwise I
wouldn’t be bringing it up. Anyway, I wanted to tell you how much I loved reading that book. I
read it in about three hours (I was on a plane, so I read it non-stop). Let me tell you, even if I
wanted to put it down so I could go to sleep, I couldn’t. I find myself like that with a lot of the
books you’ve written, obsessive to the point where it is physically difficult to put the book down.
I also felt that way when I read Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda. I also loved the movie
based off the book, but of course, it wasn’t as good as the book. What movie is? Anyway, I look
forward to your next book. You can believe me when I say I will be scouring the shelves at the
library looking for it.
Overall, I wanted to write you to tell you how greatly your books have impacted my life.
I won’t deny the fact that I am a complete book nerd, reading around three books a month or
more. My favorite books that I read I usually find in the young adult section, explaining why I’ve
read so many of yours. I love your books because they aren’t your everyday heterosexual
romance books, but also bring attention to the LGBTQ+ community, which I find is very
important in this day and age. Your books are truly inspiring to the young generation of readers
(At least I believe so) and I really wanted to thank you for doing what you do.
I know you probably get a lot of fan mail. Probably saying close to the same thing I’m
saying right now, so you’ve probably already gotten the gist. So, if you are reading this, I want to
say thank you. Thank you for the escape from reality, giving me a break from the real world. I
look forward to seeing your next book on the shelves.

Sincerely,
Lily
