The Influence of My Favorite Book on Me

“If you don’t like to read, you haven’t found the right book”, that’s what J.K Rowling said, and I definitely agree.
Books aren’t just luxury, it’s also like air. Books are like portals that can accompany you to beautiful places without
moving a step. Books are simply magical. It can make you see things in different perspectives and able you to understand
different things. The words on each paragraph, each paragraph on a page, and each page on the book can influence us in
different ways. My favorite book made a big positive influence on me. It developed me to be a better version of myself.
I read “A Walk to Remember” by Nicholas Sparks due to a school work. I need to read a book, and make a book
review about it. But I find books uninteresting, monotonous, and dull. I’m not into books nor any literary works. I prefer
spending my free time watching movies than reading a book for I find it tiring and very boring. I can’t understand people
reading books as if it’s a jewel. As if it’s a precious possession. I hate it when there are school works that forces me to
read books. I just don’t find books interesting and creative, just like movies are. But things change, even my perspectives.
It was near finals and I was told by my teacher to read a book. I chose a work of Nicholas Sparks. At first, I can’t
understand why I should read this book, but when I opened and read the first chapter, I knew that my perceptions about
books would change. ‘A Walk to Remember’ is about young love. A young love between two opposite individuals, a girl
who’s raised as the exact definition of a good girl, and a boy who’s more into trouble. Jamie, the girl, see things
positively. She’s sick, yet she blamed no one, not even god for her sufferings. She showed me that even when the world
had been so cruel to you, it wasn’t a reason for you to hate the world and your existence. It does not mean the when you
fail and fall, the battle is over. As long as you’re alive, be grateful, for you are limitless. Jamie showed that no matter how
hurt you are, not matter how painful the wounds you have, you can still love. You can still love genuinely. And this love
can mend your broken heard and can heal your dying soul. Her pure heart and her existence itself had made a big impact
to other people, including to the boy that she truly loves. The existence of my favorite book made a big influence on me.
It is very amazing how we are developed just by reading every chapter. How we felt thousands of emotions that
we never thought was possible. How we travel to different places, without moving our feet. These pages can unfold
different worlds, different dimensions. We put ourselves to the shoe of the characters and feel despair, hurt and hope. How
we are influenced to become better version of ourselves. Books can be counselors, a multitude of counselors. Now, I love
books. I love how I travel, I cry, I laugh with all the different page. I love the feel of the pages on my fingertips. I love
how books can provide comfort and excitement. Books can make people quite, yet they’re so loud.
It takes the right book for you to love the rest. Just like how it takes to love a certain type of coffee to appreciate
the unique taste of the rest. My favorite book can still make my heart beat fast. The characters are still with me and their
story within me. Through my favorite book, learned to be a strong person. Not to win in every battles, but to be grateful to
have the chance to fight and to continue to fight, just like Jamie did. Due to the book, I understand how the existence of
pain give us the privileged to experience happiness. It takes courage to open a new book. For it requires your heart and
your mind to open up again to a new story, a new journey ahead of you.
