Activity 2.

3 : Animal cell
Aim : To study the structure of
human check cells

Procedure:
1. A drop of methylene blue was put on a
glass slide.
2. The inside of my cheek was scraped
with the blunt end of a toothpick to
collect some cells.
3. The scrapings were placed on the
slide. A drop of water was added.
4. Using a needle, the specimen was
covered with a cover slip and excess
methylene blue was absorbed with
filter paper.
5. The slide was looked at through the
microscope
6. the check cells seen were drawn and
labeled
Discussion:
1. cheek cells do not have a uniform and
fixed shape.
2. animal cells do not have cell wall.
3. animal cells do not have green
pigment, that is chlorophyll
4. use the blunt end of a clean toothpick
and do not scrape too hard to prevent
injury to the cheek.

5. Conclusion: animal cells do not have


green pigment, that is chlorophyll

2. Animal cells do not have cell walls,
vacuole or chloroplast.
