PRINCIPAL, FIVE ISLANDS CAMPUS

The University of the West Indies is conducting an extensive search for Principal of the
Five Islands Campus in Antigua & Barbuda, and invites expressions of interest,
applications and nominations.

The University which is now beginning the third of its new five year “Triple A” strategic
plan, is looking for a transformational leader with a proven track record to lead the Five
Islands Campus in these challenging times.

The successful applicant will be expected to enhance areas of strength and address
present and emerging challenges.

The Principal reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor and is designated Pro Vice-
Chancellor. He/she is a member of the Executive Management Team of the University,
and chairs the bodies responsible for the Campus’ academic, business and financial
affairs.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The Principal is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for ensuring that the Campus makes
the best possible contribution to the educational, social and cultural advancement of the
Region, and particularly to Antigua and the Eastern Caribbean. He/she is directly
responsible for the maintenance and promotion of the security, efficiency and good order
of the Campus. The Principal shall also be responsible for the attainment of Key
Performance Indicators as indicated in the “Triple A” Plan.

QUALIFICATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

The successful applicant must have a PhD or EdD.

He/she must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Higher Education


Administration/or leadership at an executive management level and must have led a
sizeable department or organization. A sound understanding of current national and
global trends and issues in Higher Education would also be required.

The successful candidate will have a distinguished record of academic and administrative
achievement, a strong capacity to provide strategic leadership and vision to the Campus,
while building the confidence and support among staff and students as well as the private
and public sectors. He/she will be expected to demonstrate an unquestionable capacity
for successful interaction with all stakeholders and its regional and international partners
and donors.

The successful candidate will be expected to assume duties by August 1, 2020.
