201556286 Week One - Reflection Memo Shams Ulzaman

Three most important points you have learned during the week:

1. There are three goals of organizational behaviour:

i. Explanation: Seek to answer why individuals or groups of individuals did
something.
ii. Prediction: Focuses on future events to determine what outcomes will
result from given actions.
iii. Control: The most controversial goal is to control behaviour because we
live in a democratic society, which bases lie upon the concept of personal
freedom.

2. Organizational behaviour is the study of individual and group behaviour in organizational

settings. Organizational behaviour looks at organizations as entities, the forces that shape
them, and their impact on organizational members. The study of organizational
behaviour involves three levels of study: (1) The Individual; (2) The Group (or Team); and
(3) The Organization.

3. By studying organizational behaviour, both employees and managers come to

understand what makes people behave the way they do. More importantly, learning
about organizational behaviour will help one to understand their behaviours, attitudes,
ethical views, and performance, as well as those of their colleagues.
