Aldy Maulana was born and raised in Bogor, Indonesia in 1991.

Aldy got
undergraduate in music composition at Indonesian Institute of the Arts
Yogyakarta and Studied Culture Studies and Aesthetics in non-regular graduate
school at Sanata Dharma University. Active in music Composition Community
in Yogyakarta, like 6,5 composers collective that association of composition
students. He has attended several composition workshops with Ensemble
Modern (Germany), Ensemble Multilateral (France), Manila Composers lab, Art
Summit Indonesia, and Sound Adventure. masterclass composition as an active
participant with Slamet Abdul Sjukur, Roderick De Man, Chung Shih, Vincent
Mc Dermott, Otto Sidharta, Jack Body, Johannes Schoelhorn, Manfred Stahnke,
Dieter Mack, Jonas Baes, Chong Kee Yong, Kim Ngoc Tran and Michael Asmara.
Aldy’s pieces selected in several festival and competition such as Gaudeamus
music week Session in Utrecht, Netherland. Asia Composers League in Hanoi,
Vietnam. Setts #4 in Singapore, Yogyakarta Contemporary Music Festival, and
October Meeting competition composition. Aldy’s Piece “Pakuan X” for
Gamelan and Ensemble awarded as special prize in October Meeting 2016 and
got a commission from Cellosonata Foundation based in Amsterdam to write
new piece for Cello and Piano for Doris Hohschied (Cello) and Frans Van Ruth
(Piano). Aldy also collaborated with Dancers, Filmmakers and Musicians such as
Asep Hidayat (Cello) Ripieno Ensemble The Philippines, Grangi guitar duo and
many more. Currently, study Master degree in Creative and Art Studies at
Graduate School Indonesia Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta under the guidance
of Royke B. Koapaha and Djohan Salim. Aldy music, influenced by the urban
culture and lifestyle of urban society which is implemented into a metaphor and
then compiled it into a procedural composition in the process of composition
material making.
