Get to know the neighbours Worksheet 3

5. Which of these questions do you think are OK to ask someone you don’t know very well?
Discuss with a partner.
• What do you do for a living? (A polite way of saying ‘what is your job?’)
• How much do you earn?
• How old are you?
• Do you have any children?
• Have you lived/worked here long?
• Do you have any hobbies?
• What are your politics?
• Are you going on holiday this year?

6. Imagine that you are one of the people who lives in the house you chose. You are going to
go to a small party for the neighbours.
Try to talk to at least 4 of your neighbours and find out some information about them. Don’t
ask questions which are too personal.
7. Who was the most interesting person you met? Tell your partner, or the class, and explain
why.
