Mc Interface Introduction
Media Gateway Control (MGC):
Responsible for maintaining the connecting and controlling status of media
channel in MGW.
Media Gateway (MGW):
Responsible for media streams exchanging and format-converting. For
example, MGW convert the messages format transmitted in TDM bearer to
other formats which can be transmitted in IP network.
MSC Server GMSC Server
(MSOFTX3000) (MSOFTX3000) Mc interface is a new
interface determined in
Nc
3GPP R4, which is a
standard interface between
MSC Server (or GMSC Server)
Mc Mc and MGW.

Mc Interface Function
The Mc interface provides the capabilities of the static and dynamic
resources for the MSC Server (GMSC Server) controlling the various
transmission modes (IP/ATM/TDM) in the MGW in the call processing
procedure, such as terminal property, terminal connection switching
relationship, MGW borne media streams.

H.248 Protocol Introduction
H.248/MEGACO has been jointly developed within the ITU-T and the
IETF. It is named H.248 by the ITU-T and MEGACO by the IETF.

H.248 Protocol Stack
H.248 protocol is one of application layer protocol, which can be transported
on IP (as shown in Figure a) or ATM (as shown in Figure b). At present we
usually use IP to transport H.248 protocol.
