NARRATIVE REPORT

We all know that Northstar’s company is one of the prestigious Company


hotel owned by business tycoon in Tarlac that’s why I decided to apply for my on
the job training as a front office assistance to enhance my capabilities and skills
relevance to my course.
On my first day as a front officer Mrs. Shirley Dantes Labon cordially accepted
me as a part of their team. She basically taught me the basic principles and
guidelines for my duties or job as a front desk officer. Including for right or proper
communication and initiating cordial greetings to the guest.
From point to point Mrs. Labon guides me for rules and regulation to sharpen
my efficiency and effectiveness as a front desk officer.
1st day as a part of their team is quite difficult as expected because of actual
representation to guest. I actually encountered inevitable minor problems like the
foreigner accommodated in room 107. He actually called for my assistance to the
lizard appeared in his room. I rushed into his unit to assess the minor problems in
a well mannered way. I personally took the creature and sealed the possible
entrance of it. We as a team apologize for inconveniency.
One day curiosity plays in my head while im in the kitchen that’s why I
decided to ask the chef if there is a possible way that I can help since his assistant
was absent that day. For me to Explore other things excluded to my crafts I also
cook with the assistance of the chef that’s a great learning from me.

On my last week as a front desk officer I met Ms. Nikki Catacutan one of the
pioneer of northstar hotel she was so pretty and well mannered person and also a
very nice lady with a simple smile. from point to point she teaches me how to
manage guest and teaches me the right way to manage a night audit and she
teaches me the six basic steps involved in preparing night audit first posting room
and tax charges, assembling guest charges and payments, reconciling departmental
financial activities, reconciling accounts receivable, running the trial balance and
the last preparing the night audit report. The night audit is not one of those reports
that is put on the shelf and forgotten. Management uses it to verify the integrity of
the guest accounts and to review the operational effectiveness, which is yhe ability
to control cost and meet profit goals.
For my own assessment,I know that the Northstar hotel enhance my abilities
to a whole new different level and perspective regarding to my duties as a front
desk officer in terms of responsibility and handling, administration to my duties
including the right way of greeting guest and offering them the basic necessities,
for example offerings of beverages(water,juice and coffee). Answering calls from
the guest politely and handling the inquiries in a professional ways. Also the sorting
and distribution of mails for scheduled meetings and travel executives and also I
learned reconciling departmental financial activities a department total options of
night audit module in the PMS will report the totals of sales by department.
Everything have been set in harmony in terms of my job from the day
I started until its done despite the problems encountered. I learned that
learning is the key to success and hardwork is a tool. Im so honored to be
part of the team and serve the hundreds of clients with a smile.
