I would like to thank Allah SWT who has given us this opportunity to
complete this module. Sholawat and Salam may also be upon the greatest prophet
Muhammad SAW whose blessing will have been desiderating in the forthcoming
day. Many thanks also to all Alifia Institute tutors and students who have involved
in this module experimentation and arrangement.
This module is actually advance practical guide for second language
learner. This is compiled in accordance with the previous modules (Pre-
conversation and Communicative speaking). This is arranged based on the
assumption that advanced second language learner should study broader
discourse and topic discussion to support their improvement during study
session. Besides, the focus of this module is to equip students with speaking as
performance. In other word, the contents of this module are totally to teach
speaking as performance. The topic proposed in this module ranging from
academic discussion and conversation such as attending university and finding
sources for classroom discussion to social interaction such as crimes in society
and natural disaster.
For more information, this module is divided into two sections. The first
section will discuss more about academic and social setting that focus on
presenting ideas and conversing as well as confirming student’s ideas. The second
section will discuss more about current issues which is close to student’s daily
life such as entertainment, sport, and news. Finally they will have their two weekly
tests in order to know their improvement. Above all, this module is hopefully able
to help them learning English, especially English speaking skill. At last,
suggestion and critics are really expected for further revision.
