Pilot briefing: Departing out of Paris Charles de Gaulle

Welcome to Paris Charles de Gaulle (LFPG/CDG), and thank you for choosing our airport for your
departure. This briefing was made to make your departure as flawless and fun as possible. We hope
you will enjoy flying with us.

1 – Sceneries and charts

Flight simulator and P3D users:

Commercial: Aerosoft Mega Airport Paris CDG (FSX/FS2004)

Freeware: http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fsview.php?do=list&fid=166354 (FSX)

X-Plane users:

Freeware: http://xpfr.org/?body=scene_accueil&sc=109 (XP 8/9/10)

BEWARE: Unfortunately, none of those sceneries are completely up to date, most

taxiways and holding points have been renamed. Please use the charts as a reference for
your taxi and NOT your scenery. Two terminals, the S4 and the 3G are not present in the
Aerosoft scenery.

Charts:
All the French official charts are available for free at:
https://www.sia.aviation-civile.gouv.fr/html/frameset_aip_uk.htm

We strongly recommend using those charts and only those as they are official and up to date. The
charts are bundled, for flying IFR, you will be interested in:
- IAC bundle, which contains the ground movement charts and the parking charts.
- ARR / DEP bundle, which contains the SID and STAR charts
- AERONAUTICAL INFORMATION MANUAL, which contains the textual information about the
airport.

2 – Where to park
There are 3 terminals at Paris CDG and 2 cargo aprons. Terminal 1 and 2 are the main passenger
terminals.

BEWARE: Your take off runway WILL depend on your SID, NOT on your position on the
apron. Flying to the north, you will take off on the northern runways, if flying south or west,
you will take off from the southern runways. NO EXPECTIONS WILL BE MADE.

International flights operated by Air France and Skyteam partners, American Airline and others
departs from Terminal 2A, 2C, 2E, S3 and S4, which means gates A, C, E for aircrafts up to B773/787,
gates K for aircrafts up to B748, and gates L for aircrafts up to A380.

International flights operated by other airlines departs from Terminal 1, which has multiples gates
aircrafts up to A380.

All FEDEX cargo flights departs from the FEDEX terminal (Gates I). All other cargo flights departs
from the cargo apron (Gates M, N for aircrafts up to 744 and gates P for aircrafts up to B739)

3 – Calculated take off time

All participants have a Calculated Take off Time (CTOT), also known as “slot time”. As in the real
world, CTOTs have a margin of -5 and +10 minutes. A CTOT of 1215Z implies that the flight has to be
airborne between 1210Z and 1225Z.
Expect between 5 and 25 minutes to taxi depending on your parking position and the runway you
are assigned to (See 4 – Which controller to contact).

We strongly recommend not to connect to VATSIM earlier than 50-55 minutes prior to your slot
time, this will prevent airport congestion and save network load. It is advised to do your flight deck
setup first and connect to the network as the last step before requesting clearance.

To get your clearance, you will need to contact the proper delivery:

IF YOUR DESTINATION IS CONTACT

CYUL, KORD LFPG_DEL (126.650)
KATL, KMEM LFPG_S_DEL (121.720)

/!\ Please pay attention to the SID that you will be given, it has a specific letter suffix that
define the flight path (eg OPALE 3B ≠ OPALE 3D). All of the SIDs are RNAV, and may require a turn
shortly after takeoff due to parallel operations. If unable RNAV, please advise. Be very careful
reading back frequencies as they are very similar.

Your clearance request should include the following:

- Callsign
- Stand number
- ATIS information (Voice ATIS will be online on 127.120)

BEWARE: Delivery might be very busy, so please get yourself some time to request
clearance in order not to be late. Remember that a push-back and startup clearance is
REQUIRED from ground before pushing back or starting your engines.

Taxi clearances can be very long and complex, please make sure you have the charts next to you,
and write down you clearance. You might also receive an incomplete taxi clearance, this is normal as
you might be handed off to another ground. Once ground hands you off to tower contact the proper
tower with your callsign only.
