INTRODUCTION

First of all, I would like to thank you for buying the Diva Chomolungma compilation!

Diva Chomolungma elevates you to the pinnacle of aesthetics, by helping you to

create your own sonic universe using the amazing u-he Diva.

It is aimed to provide you instant grafitiction by inspiring you to play live on

expressive Diva patches, forgetting you are sitting in front of a computer... just do
not forget to press the record button on your DAW.

As divas tend to surprise us occasionally, u-he Diva is not different - she will show
you her new, undiscovered side through the use of the 10 Synhtmorph MIDI sequences. There are 15-35
continuously morphing parameters per sequence, boosting the quite a bit organic character of Diva to
the extreme.

If you want to know more in-depth info about synths, please read my articles / tutorials / reviews at the
Magazine section of the website http://www.synthmorph.com; some might help you to make use of their
full potential.

And finally, enjoy the journey through the sounds and sequences of Diva Chomolungma!

7 Diva Chomolungma
TIPS FOR USAGE

How to locate and load the presets?

1. Open your DAW, create a new project (or load an existing one) and load a new instance of Diva.
2. Open the browser of Diva by clicking the “Patches” button and locate the Synthmorph - Diva
Chomolungma preset folder. Now you can browse through the presets.
3. Sometimes the presets don't show up immediately. To resolve this, please right-click the blank
space over the folders structure windows and select “refresh”.

Usage: Most of the sounds use the modwheel and aftertouch for extensive modulations. Please always
try to move the modwheel or press your keys gradually harder on the MIDI keyboard to activate
aftertouch (if it has this functionality). Also, try playing with different velocities.

To use the Synthmorph MIDI sequences, follow these steps:

1. You can preview the sequences as audio files located in the Synthmorph MIDI sequences folder.
2. Decide which you like and load / import / drag the corresponding .mid file from this folder into a
MIDI track of your DAW.
3. Load and assign a new instance of Diva to this MIDI track.
4. The name of the MIDI file contains both the tempo and the exact Diva preset name.
For example "SM 110 bpm - PAD Radio Nuance.mid" means
1. “SM” is just the Synthmorph prefix
2. set your DAW tempo to 110 bpm and
3. load the “PAD Radio Nuance” preset in this instance of Diva.
5. Press play and start experimenting!

8 Diva Chomolungma
Experimentation
The Synthmorph MIDI sequences contain multiple parallel CC (Control Change) modulation streams
matching exactly with the MIDI note sequences, they are both in the same MIDI file. As a result, you get
more complex organic textures even from simple sounds, tailored for that specific sequence of notes.

However, it does not prevent you to

1. rearrange the MIDI notes, transpose, mute some, or fit them to your song scales / chords
2. delete all the MIDI notes (and probably the pitch bend automation if there is one), then loop the
MIDI file with the automation still intact and play live along with your MIDI keyboard. This can be
a source of some new organic phrase ideas during jamming!
3. Going further, you can change to different synth presets while looping the Synthmorph MIDI file
and grab the momentum where it musically works, sample it, etc.
4. In stop mode, just move the playbar of your DAW and you’ll get instant variations of the same
sound! It will send the snapshot of controllers to the instrument, hence you’ll get a different
sound. If you like it, you can save it as a unique preset!
5. Redraw the embedded automation curves to get your own version of the evolving sound.
However, it is very easy to mess up the sound by drawing drastic changes, so I recommend to try
with gentle modifications first, but it is up to you anyway :).
6. Use it in original form as an instrumental main theme, a hook for your song or for a as a part of a
theme group (like a melody in a chord progression + melody compound).

9 Diva Chomolungma
Compatibility

I have rigorously tested the Synthmorph MIDI sequences in multiple popular DAW hosts, including
Studio One, Live, Reaper, Cubase, Logic 9, FL Studio, Pro Tools (Win) and Bitwig Studio and got the
same results sound-wise.

If you are an FL Studio 12 user, be aware of the fact that the MIDI file import with automation embedded
is currently incredibly clumsy.

Reason 10 already handles VST instruments, but it does not support MIDI CCs at all! Thus only the MIDI
notes / Modwheel modulations are being played from Synthmorph sequences, the rest of the CC lanes
are simply ignored.
