Introduction Guide for the Chapter Head
As we embark on our 21st year, we are led into a new venture of redefining the SFC Lifestyle
according to Christ’s way of life. This is how we want to be set apart from the worldly norms and
express our Love for Life that God has gifted us with. A life that imitates Christ and makes Him
known to others through our lifestyle. And this lifestyle is rooted in our desire to please Him as
also exemplified by Christ himself.

In this Assembly, we are inviting everyone to be open and true to themselves as we re-learn and
experience the redefined SFC Lifestyle now known as “Generation Christ”.

Content
This Chapter Assembly is divided into 3 parts: “Live Simply”, “Live Freely” and “Live Fully”. For
each component there will be:

 Activity – so that every participant will have a clue/feel of the topic to be discussed. Each
game is included in the manual of each mini talk. This can be given by the Chapter Leader
or the speaker.
 Mini Talk – the main topic or component of Generation Christ
 Evaluation Questions – this will be asked after the mini talk and its purpose is for the
participants to reflect on the topic being discussed
 Action Plan Activity – a concrete action plan, guide and challenge they will take to be the
Generation for Him

Format
The Chapter Head will lead the orientation for the whole Chapter Teaching. He will give a brief
overview of what Generation Christ is all about for the participants to have a glimpse of what
they will undergo in the whole duration of the teaching.

After every topic discussed, the Chapter Head will come up in front, give some important points
on the component that was discussed and after that introduce the next topic and speaker. The
in-between introduction should last for about 3-5 minutes, just enough time for the participants
to breathe after a topic and prepare themselves for the next.

Speakers

For this Chapter Teaching, we highly recommend to have three (3) speakers that will talk about
each component. Someone who embodies a perfect example of each component and will also
be the sharer on the topic assigned to him/her.

Chapter Heads need to orient each speaker and give an overview of the overall topic regarding
Generation Christ. This will help them to be specific on their sharing and points that need to be
emphasized and stressed to the SFC’s. To remind them also of the time allotted on each
session/mini talk.

Commitment Ceremony
This will be given by the Chapter Head.
Dynamics:
 The participants will then ask to find their conviction partner, a person who will remind
and inspire them to Live Simply, Live Freely and Live Fully for the Lord.
 There will be a commitment card for each participant. The Chapter Head will then
challenge the participants to be the Generation for Him. He will read the commitment
card and ask the participants to repeat the commitment with conviction.
 After reciting the commitment, ask each SFCs to sign their Covenant Cards (together
with his/her conviction partner) as a covenant for being the Generation for Him.
 Remind the participants that your conviction partner is accountable to you. Pray for
each other and ask the Lord to give you and your partner the grace to live fully for Him.
 End with a send-off song and a closing prayer.
Live Simply
A Simple life that leads to generous living.

Objectives
1. For the SFCs to acknowledge the blessings that God is faithfully giving them.
2. Differentiate their needs and wants so as to become good stewards of one's resources.
3. Challenge to live a Simple Life that will lead to generosity that will give greater glory to
God.

Speakers Profile
An SFC Leader who exemplifies simplicity despite one’s financial status in life. Living a life of
generosity even at point of crisis. Someone who can also share his/her participation in the ANCOP
work of SFC or involved in helping people in need even in his/her personal ways.

Activity: “Bring Me”

Instead of the usual Bring Me Game, we are putting a different dynamic that will encourage more
participation. The Speaker may call for first 3 representatives in every round from each Unit that
can best fit the category. Then from the representatives who went in front, the speaker will
decide who wins the round. (E.g. First 3 from each area who has the Most High-tech…. *then they
come in front, and when they are already complete... the speaker will continue… *the most high-
tech CELLPHONE! The Speaker then chooses the winner for the round).
These are some of the items that you can ask from them:
 3 persons - who has the most high-tech… cell phone or gadget
 3 persons - who has the most number… of credit cards
 3 persons - who spends more than 1,500 Php… bill on their (prepaid/postpaid) load
allowance
 3 persons - who buys clothes… more than 3x a month
 3 persons - who has the most number… pair of shoes/bags

Mini Talk

Called to Live Simply

The Lord, in His goodness has blessed us in so many ways. This leads us to also share what we
have to others. Thus, as Singles For Christ, we go out on mission and spread the Good News and
let everyone experience Christ.

But with the current trends, many have become distracted and confused, empty and wanting
more. Many have become enslaved – eventually losing themselves along the way. We have
become prisoners of our W-A-N-T.
This must never be the case for us. Because we acknowledge that everything comes and belongs
to God, we choose to become stewards of these resources. And since it is God who enables us to
acquire wealth, we use our finances (wealth and possessions) to glorify God and participate in
the spread of His Kingdom. We live a life embracing simplicity leads to a full life immersed in
generosity. It is in living less for ourselves that we are able to live more for Him. We are called to
LIVE SIMPLY.. give more, share Christ!

Defining our Needs vs Wants

Understanding and following our call for Simple Life shifts how we regard our possessions. It leads
us to reflect and think about what are the true essentials of our lives. It will now define our
priorities – which are important and which ones are the peripherals. Living a simple life entails
understanding the difference between our needs and wants and being able to choose between
them wisely.

Definition
Needs are basic items that we must have in order to survive
Wants are goods and services that can enhance the quality of life that we can live without

Exercises on Needs and Wants

Reflection questions: In deciding to get or buy things, we must ask?
 Why do I want it?
 How would things be different if I had it?
 What other things would change, for better or worse, if I had it?
 What is truly important to me?
 Is this really what I value/care about?

Some Practical Steps in Living Simply

1. Know Your Core Priorities in Life. “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be
also.” Mt 6:21

Knowing our priorities and values allows us to see which are the more important
things in life and will greatly direct our time and resources. Determine your own Core
Priorities, your personal choice in life, love, and work. Where are most of our time and
resources being spent?

No matter how much money you may or may not have, how you spend it is a real
reflection of your values and choices. Does your spending habits reflect your Core
Priorities?

2. Learn to Be Contented. “for I have learned to be content with whatever I have. I know
what it is to have little, and I know what it is to have plenty. In any and all circumstances I
have learned the secret of being well-fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of
being in need.” Phil 4:11b-12
Become aware of what really makes you happy. Let this inner sense of satisfaction
drive your decisions. Do an inventory of blessings and of what you have and be grateful
for them.

3. Be aware of people whose basic needs are not being met in today's world.
Live simply so that others may simply live.

 Be aware of what you consume

 Purge your stuff. Give away what you don't need and aren't using
 Learn to find ways to reduce consumption and waste

4. Learn to manage your finances

Become conscious and honest about your money, bank accounts, credit card
balances, and income. This is a tough step, but begin prayerfully.

 Make a Budget and Stick to It

 Don’t buy on credit (video)
 Save and Invest
 Seek to improve one’s financial literacy

St. Augustine would say, “Our hearts are restless until it rests in God.” Unless God does not have
a place in our hearts and we do not allow the Lord to be the center of our lives, we will never
experience true joy and satisfaction. It will continue to yearn for fulfilment and we may continue
to seek it through so many ways, including thru material possessions.

We have to be GRATEFUL for our blessings and what we have every moment in our lives. We
have to learn to TRUST in the Lord our God! GOD is ENOUGH.
In living simply we are called to live out:

 Responsible Stewardship wherein we properly allocate the use of 90% of what

God has entrusted us.
 Simple Life that clearly defines our needs versus the things that we want. In
simplicity we find peace of mind and true contentment in living a life for others.
(Attitude of spending)
 Giving and sharing not out of surplus but of true generosity of heart.

Evaluation Questions
Have I been living within my means?
Have I been prioritizing my wants instead of my needs?
Have I been properly allocating the 90% of my income to myself, to others and to God?
What are the things that I need to give up to end up giving more?
Action Plan Activity
1. Identify 5 spending habits that I need to trim down/give up in order to be able to share
more to others. (E.g. Multiple Credit Cards, Mobile Credit Limit, Leisure, Beverages, etc.)
2. Think of ways on how you can share your resources to others. (e.g. Sponsor a Child to school
thru ANCOP CSP, serve in Cornerstone, commit to support a relative who is in need, etc.)
3. Create a 6-month plan on how you can make it happen.

Live Freely
True Freedom lies in the Truth of God.

Objectives
1. Develop a greater understanding and promote awareness on the issues surrounding the
SFC Lifestyle.
2. Lead the members to live according to the truths God has anointed through the Catholic
Church.
3. Facilitate a safe environment where individuals can confide their struggles to their
pastoral head or a spiritual director who can keep them accountable.

Speaker’s Profile

An SFC Leader who has made the decision to turn away from a life of sinfulness. A brother or
sister who is now known for their integrity, conviction, and perseverance in living out an
authentic Christian lifestyle. Someone who inspires others by striving to live according to God’s
will in all areas of their life.

Mini Talk

Introduction

For the fullness of life to be experienced, we are called to LIVE FREELY. Free from the bondage of
sin and addiction. Free to live out our lives as the men and women of God we were created and
called to be. Free to experience true authentic love as we grow in chastity. True Freedom is a life
based on the standards of God, and not the world's. By letting go of what keeps us from living
free, we allow ourselves to enjoy God's peace.

How do we Live Freely for the Lord?

We LIVE FREELY when we...

I. Know the Truth

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so
that you may discern what is the will of God - what is good and acceptable and perfect.
[Romans 12: 2, NRSV]
Truth is that which is consistent with the mind, will, character, glory, and being of God.
Truth is the self-expression of God. God is the author, source, determiner, governor, ultimate
standard, and final judge of all truth.

We Know the Truth when we actively participate in our faith journey.

 Consistent communication with the Source of Truth through our prayer time and
frequently engaging in Sacramental Life (E.g. regular confession, active
participation in the celebration of the Eucharist, etc.)
 Study the Word of God and utilize reliable Catholic sources and teachings (Bible,
Theology of the Body, Catechism of the Catholic Church, Doctrines, etc.)
 Converse and journey with other brothers and sisters in Christ who are seeking
out God’s truth (Confide in a mature Brother/Sister in SFC, an Uncle or Aunt Figure
in CFC, or a Priest/Nun/Religious who can help guide you on a more personal level)

II. Face the Truth

Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being, and in the hidden part You will make me
know wisdom. [Psalm 51:6, NASB]

We Face the Truth when we ask God to reveal the integrity of our character.
 BE HONEST! Decide to be honest with Him and ourselves about our sins and our
struggles
 Recognize what causes us to sin and accept where we have fallen short and turned
away from the Lord
 REPENT! Ask for the grace to actively turn away from our sins by seeking
forgiveness

III.Live the Truth

But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their
deeds have been done in God. [John 3: 21, NRSV]

We Live the Truth when we proclaim Christ through our Lifestyle.

 Principle I - Break Free: Living a life free from all sorts of addictions (ie. Tobacco,
Alcohol, Street Drugs, Prescription Drugs, Gambling, Food, Sex, Work, Shopping,
Video Games, Internet)
 Principle II - True Man & True Woman: Finding our identity in Christ as a man and
a woman (ie. The Disordered Identity Crisis, Understanding that God created man
in his image...male and female he created them. [Genesis 1: 27, NAB])
 Principle III - Pure Love: Learning to take lust out of love (ie. The practice of
Chastity, Understanding Authentic Love vs. Fleeting Love)
 Principle IV - Faithful Love: Committing to a faithful relationship (ie. Dating with a
purpose, Dating with marriage as the end goal in mind)
 Principle V - Pure Inside Out: Striving for purity in our thoughts, words, and actions
(ie. Modesty, Making sure we witness to our speech, Being aware of gossip, etc.)
Conclusion
Freedom is not doing whatever you want, whenever you want, to whomever you want. To Live
Freely is to be in line with His will. Freedom is nothing but a chance to be better. You yourselves
are the body of Christ, the Church! [Pope Emeritus Benedict] The call of our generation is to be
like Him- steadfast, convicted, and faithful. Be fearless like Christ! Do not be afraid to stand for
the truth.

Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help
you... [Isaiah 41: 10, NRSV]

ANCHOR VERSE: “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ
loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” (Ephesians 5:1-2,
NRSVCE)

Reflection Questions
1. What are the sins that God is calling me to recognize and acknowledge?
2. What is the first concrete step I can take to break away from these sins?
3. How can I be kept accountable as I journey toward freedom and fullness in Christ?

Action Plan
1. Go to confession within the next 7 days. Commit to the sacrament of reconciliation on a
monthly basis.
2. Choose an accountability partner (sister-sister, brother-brother, spiritual director).
Dialogue regularly and ask for prayers consistently whenever temptations arise.

Mini Talk
Introduction

We are here because we experience the love of the Lord. In many various forms and ways, we
are living a life full of love, a life full of Christ through our family, friends and brothers and sisters
in our community . . . we see, hear, and feel Christ through the people He sent us, blessings,
circumstances we encounter, and formations that we have in the SFC Ministry. And this
overwhelming love leads us to fully live our lives for Him, in service, in faith, in love.

Live Fully
Living fully means using all our energy, our senses, our whole being to express the love we felt,
we feel and the love we want to share.
How do we fully live for the Lord?
We LIVE FULLY when we. . .

Let others SEE our faith.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16, NIV)

We let others see our faith by the way we live our lives.
 By being a vessel of love and peace in our relationships (family, work mates, friends,
etc.)
 By being accountable in our workplace, leading a good example among our work
mates.
 By firmly standing on our beliefs as a Catholic and Singles for Christ.

Let others HEAR our faith.

Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then,
whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you
stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel. (Philippians
1:27)
 Leading prayers (e.g. before/after the meal, rosary, etc.) in our family, work place and
everywhere that there is an opportunity to do so.
 Sharing to others (to our family, workplace, friends, etc.) how the love of Christ
changed our lives.

Have the courage to SPEAK about our faith.

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” (Mark 16:15)
 Invite everyone to our Christian Life Program, Cornerstone activities, conferences
especially the people closest to us . . . our family, work mates, friends, etc.
 Never hesitate to go on proclaiming His love for us by being a speaker/sharer in our
teachings, CLPs, etc.
 Creating an environment for Godly Conversations. As we constantly recognize His work
in our lives it becomes natural for us to speak highly of God not only to the brethren in
SFC but also to others.
 Proclaiming a stand on our Catholic faith anywhere, everywhere or where opportunity
arises.

Let others FEEL our faith.

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely
you have received; freely give. (Matthew 10:8)
 Go out of our comfort zone for others to feel Christ’s love. Together with our family,
work mates and friends, let our love be in action. Take the lead in bringing, sharing
and proclaiming Christ to the world:
 Visit a prison or a home for the aged
 Join our ANCOP projects and build a home
 Teach the kids through our Cornerstone

We choose to love, we choose to serve because we see, hear and feel Christ in our lives.

Christ Proclaimed
CCC: Article 8. 2472 The duty of Christians to take part in the life of the Church impels them to act
as witnesses of the Gospel and of the obligations that flow from it. This witness is a transmission
of the faith in words and deeds. Witness is an act of justice that establishes the truth or makes it
known.269

All Christians by the example of their lives and the witness of their word, wherever they live, have
an obligation to manifest the new man which they have put on in Baptism and to reveal the power
of the Holy Spirit by whom they were strengthened at Confirmation.

Our vision, “Every single man and woman all over the world experiencing Christ” becomes a
reality when we are able to let others experience Christ through us, when we start living our lives
fully for Him.

SFC CHRIST PROCLAIMED MONTH

This is SFCs initiative to create an avenue for our global community to witness Christ to others.
Every November in our SFC Calendar will be a conscious effort of every members and leaders to
wear Christ, share Christ and proclaim Christ. In all Household meetings and Chapter Assemblies
we will talk on how to live and proclaim Christ. Every day will be an opportunity to wear and
share Christ through wearing our Advocacy and Conviction Shirts and by doing Random Act of
Kindness. It will be part of us as Singles For Christ until it becomes our daily witnessing.

Let Christ’s love be proclaimed in our:

Family
 by being a vessel of love
 by leading a good example among our brothers and sisters
 by letting them witness how God works in our life

Workplace
 by being accountable on our office’s belongings and not using them on personal interest
(e.g. printing a personal project, doing SFC stuffs in the office, etc.)
 by being loyal to each of our workmates (loyalty means not spreading any malicious news
among our workmates, etc.)
 by working with integrity and morals as a Catholic and Singles for Christ

Leadership
 by firmly standing on our beliefs as a Catholic
 by being His witness and embracing our ideals as Singles for Christ
 by proclaiming in any way our faith and how His love change our lives
This is the right time to let others see, hear, and feel Christ! We have to the take the lead, stand
with our beliefs and proclaim our faith to whomever, every time, everywhere!

Proclaim Christ!! Be His WITNESS, share His LOVE!

Evaluation Questions
1. Have I been proclaiming Christ’s love through my life?
2. Do I let others SEE, HEAR, FEEL Christ through me?
3. How do I share more of Christ to other people?

Action Plan Activity

1. Think of ways on how the people around you will know Christ more. Identify 5 people and
invite them in our activities (e.g. Conference, Assemblies, Cornerstone, ANCOP Build, etc.)
2. Invite these 5 people from your work place/friends to our Christian Life Program and
journey with them until they finished the CLP and become an active SFC
3. Propose a CLP or SFC Activity in your company to start up Corporate Evangelization. Make
a 6-month plan and timeline for it.
