Target Market

Fries Place intends to cater to the bulk of teenagers and

youngsters in Batasan. We have chosen this group for several
important reasons. It is our goal to be "the extraordinary fast food
place" and we believe that the age group from 15 to 25 is the
primary age where brand building efforts could take place. They
are on limited or fixed incomes and seek a value/price
relationship that will not stretch their budgets.

Our secondary target is between the ages of 25 and 37,

which are a heavy lounge/restaurant user group. They are more
flexible in budgets and seek more than a value/price relationship.

Our lunch strategy is dual purposed. First, we are featuring

fresh fries to fill their cravings for fast food as most ideas of lunch
is a quick bite not a heavy meal.

Strategy and Implementation Summary

At first, we will open one outlet in Batasan. This will become

our "market testing area," and as we go further, Fries Place is
planning to open another in nearby shopping malls. In attracting
customers to try our fries, we will provide a see-through kitchen,
so that people will see how we are committed to freshness in our
products.

The kitchen will also let out an aroma of our freshly fried
fries into the surroundings area, so that people will come and try
our products.

Marketing Strategy

Our strategy is based on serving our markets well. We will

start our first outlet as a "market tester" that could become a
model of the expanding number of outlets in the future.
Concentration will be on maintaining quality and establishing a
strong identity in the local market.
A combination of local media and local store marketing
programs will be utilized at each location. Local store marketing is
most effective, followed by print ad. As soon as a concentration of
stores is established in a market, then broader media will be
explored. We believe, however, that the best form of advertising is
still "buzz." By providing a fun and energetic environment, with
unbeatable quality at an acceptable price in a clean and friendly
outlet, we will be the talk of the town. Therefore, the execution of
our concept is the most critical element of our plan. We will
actively build our brand, through the selling of supporting
materials, such as merchandise, promotional items and other
marketing gimmicks similar to those of other fast food franchises.
Fries Place Page 12
Competitive Edge

• Our unique dipping sauces blend local taste and

international into one fusion recipe for the signature sauce.
• Enthusiastic and friendly staff
• Supporting merchandise items that support company's brand
building.
• Our fries are made of 100% fresh potatoes, unlike the frozen
fries used by competitors.
• Innovative packaging will position us at the same level with
foreign fast food franchises.

Management Summary

The initial management team depends on the founders

themselves, with little back-up. As we grow, we will take on
additional help in certain key areas. Part of our basic philosophy
will be able to run our executive management as a "knowledge
sharing" fellowship. We will not add additional overhead until
absolutely necessary. This will mean that the initial staff support
team will have to work extra. By doing this, we will keep our
overhead as low as possible, allowing us to adequately staff our
outlets. This will also allow us and future business partners to
recoup investments as quickly as possible and enjoy a higher
return.

Management Team

As the business is small in nature, it only requires a simple

organizational structure. Implementation of this organization form
calls for all four individuals to make all major management
decisions in addition to monitoring all other business activities.
Fries Place Page 13
As we expand into multiple locations in the near future, each
location will have a primary site manager.

Organizational Structure

Future organizational structure will include a director of store

operations when the store locations exceed four units. We hope
that this individual will come out of the ranks of our stores’
management. This will provide a supervisory level between the
executive level and the store management level.
Possible positions might be added at a later date include
marketing manager, purchasing manager, controller, human
resources, and administrative support team.

Project Problems

 No appropriate support from sponsors.

 Lack of Finances
 Poor Business Planning
 Lack of Proper Marketing Strategy
 Lack of A Dedicated Team
 Fierce Competition

Alternative Solutions
 Cash flow is essential for start-ups to survive. As a rule of
thumb, start-ups should always find ways of minimizing their
costs. Invoice factoring is another way of speeding up the
account receivable processes in start-ups. In this digital age
when invoice payments are made through mobile phones,
there is no harm to request immediate payments from clients.
It is also very important to secure credit before any business
needs it as they can easily find out how much cash they will

Fries Place Page 14

likely need to survive. Finally, using accounting software to
keep tab on money coming in and out of the business is also
a good idea.

 Before launching the business, it is important for start-ups to

carry out a thorough research by investigating from suppliers
to taxes to competitor prices. This approach is the bedrock
for a successful business, which needs to be viewed in
holistic way so that vision for the product is aligned with the
identified target audience. Writing effective business plan
helps start-ups to define what their business is, the market it
serves, how it will conduct operations, and the money it will
make and spend.
 It is always a challenge for start-ups to figure out best ways
to market our products or services. Today’s digital
technology has opened a broad spectrum of avenues for
marketing in the form of electronic, print, online, mobile, and
video advertising. Start-ups more than ever need to be adept
at creating innovative marketing plans, placing
advertisements, and letting people know the worth of their
products or services. To put it simply, a good marketing
strategy has vision, mission, and business goals. It should
be able to explain the position and role of a business’s
products or services in the market. Proper marketing
strategy fundamentally entails efficiency with which
customers are approached and encouraged their future
loyalty towards the product or service.

 Due to the lack of a proper team, any business will suffer

immensely. A dedicated team with a diverse skill set is very
important for the start ups to grow and succeed. There
should be a proper synergy, coordination, and
communication among the members of a team. Any team is
formed by the individuals who have different range of
capabilities with identical focus.
Fries Place Page 15
This arrangement allows the members to help each other, learn
from each other, and put a concerted effort in order to achieve
success. Diversity and dedication of a team drives innovation.

 Competition is the most inevitable challenge that start-ups

face. The good thing of competition is that it forces the
businesses to come out with the best. There is, in fact, a
whole gamut of opportunities exist for entrepreneurs
because switching costs for most customers are low and
many are willing to try new, relatively untested products or
services. To overcome competition, start-ups should
research and analyze their niche industry; should be unique
and different in approach; and should be able to create,
implement, and track their business and marketing plan.

 The challenges and problems are inevitable as far as the

success journey of a start-up is concerned. They need to be
resilient and focused towards keeping their values intact no
matter what the circumstances are. It is, therefore, to
anticipate difficulties and pitfalls beforehand.

Socio-Economic

Government and Society Contribution

 Contribution to Income and Employment

The main goal of a certain business is to have high income

especially in the part of the owner. The business should generate
pleasantly relationship between the manager and the employees
to attain the main goal of the business which is to have an income.
At workers and employees in the business need income to
support their own needs and also for their services rendered in
the business. Building up business is a great opportunity for an
employed people to have jobs. It will also be their opportunity of
having another source of income.
