Report on management development programme held on NOV.

14th
Management Development Programme [MDP], which held on November 14 th at kristu
Jayanti College was attended by the 1 st and3rd semester MBA students and also
delegates from different colleges and institutions. Resource persons from different
sectors of service like IT, banking, insurance, stock market and hospitality, gave
presentations on different service sectors. The session commenced on 9.30 in the
morning with the inaugural session presided by Fr.Jose p. j, the vice principal & the
financial administrator of kjc. He gave brief introduction about the need of ethics in
service sectors, and measures taken to reduce exploitation.
Session was taken by Mr. Jayas damodaran, Director, Sybase. He told about the
service sector in India and its contribution to GDP, the contribution of IT sector to
India. Then he explained the difference between service sector and other and sectors.
He explained the intangible, inseparable, variable, and perishable nature of service
sector. P; explained how to market intangible service and the 7 p’s of service
marketing like product, price, promotion, place, people, process and physical
evidence.
The second session was from banking sector handled by Mr. V. P. Roshan, assistant
general manager IDBI bank Bangalore. He spoke about the marketing strategies in
banking sector. He prioritised the need of marketing in service sector. He emphasized
the need of keeping relations in marketing, the need of uniqueness, use of
technologies etc. He said return is the best gift to a client. Then he spoke about wealth
management, personality and the future of banking sector in India.
The next talk was on insurance sector taken by Mr. P. Shridar, marketing manager of
LIC. He started with the history of insurance sector, how it is established, the rules
and regulations implemented the beginning and growth of LIC, the current status of
insurance sector, and the future of insurance sector.
The fourth session was by Mr. Manish Srivasthava, manager of Reliance money. He
spoke about the marketing strategies, the problem faced and the scope in India. Then
he spoke of the Reliance money, its beginning, its contribution and the countries in
which it is on. Then he spoke about the peculiarities of reliance money, its market
share, the total number of customers and their strategies in marketing. He explained
their USP’s like cost effectiveness, security and convenience. He spoke about the
capital, household and emerging markets they are focussing at.
The last session was on hospitality sector and it was done by Mr. Ashok Vohra,
Managing Director of Evoma. He spoke about the background, the global business
and India, the definition and perception of hospitality. He spoke about leisure
hospitality, service marketing. He spoke about the business environment, the business
channels, the global standards which we have to follow, the hospitality production,
concept of production and the most importantly the location. Then he explained
business hospitalisation, the need for a business to grow. Then he spoke about the
marketing strategies like new business concern, the routes to market, and the hub for
the hub for the next generation business and the biosphere. Lastly he explained the
mission to provide hospitable environment for young Indian business to flourish.
The programme was effective in finding out the strategies followed by different
service sector companies like Banking, IT, Marketing, Insurance, and stock market.
