• How children acquire language and build their thought
and brain are what the parents and environtment giving
them and how they are being treated
• Children need moral teaching more than they need on
some food. They grow up their mind and psychological
aspects as well as their body grow

Introduction
• One of the teaching methodology of the
Prophet,
it was narrated that Prophet Muhammad said:
“make it simple and don’t make it difficult.
Make it happy and do not make them run
away.” (Bukhari transmitted)

Objectives
• 1. Useful information for parents, teachers and everyone
on how is the content of Islamic teaching materials and
their beneficial effect in moral teaching and
understanding of the children.
• 2. Invaluable contributions for parents, teachers and
everyone in creating Islamic teaching materials which are
suitable with their needs in teaching English.

Significance
• Crystal and Davy (1980: 147) stated
that the language of religion is one of
the styles appear in language. The kind
of language a speech community use to
the expression of its religions’ belief on
public occasion. It is most the
distinctive varieties it possesses.

1. The Language of
Religion
The language used for communication among human. As
Islam is a religion of right-thinking, right-speaking and
right-doing founded on divine love, universal charity and
human brotherhood (Alwaye 1990: 6)

“The Most Gracious (Allah)!. He has taught (you mankind)

the Qur’an (by His Mercy). He created man. He taught him
eloquent speech.” (Q.S Ar-Rahman:1-4)

General

human are demanded to speak in
righteous ways about religious
teaching in moral subject

Specific
1. Immerse religious understanding of Tauhiid (Islamic
Monotheism).

Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) Peace be upon him prayed to

the Almighty Allah;

“And (remember) when Ibrahim said: “O my Lord! Make

this city (Makkah) one of peace and security, and keep me
and my sons away from worshipping idols.” (QS. Ibrahim:
35).

2. Immerse moral teaching, worship and righteous good
deeds (adab/ akhlak) beyond parents and other people

“And We have enjoined on man (to be dutiful and good) to

his parents. His mother bore him in weakness and hardship
upon weakness and hardship, and his weaning is in two
years- give thanks to Me and to your parents,- unto Me is
the final destination.” (Q.S. Luqman:14)

3. Authentic Material
• “Authentic materials enable learners to interact with
the real language and content rather than the form.
Learners feel that they are learning a target language
as it is used outside the classroom. Considering this, it
may not be wrong to say that at any level authentic
materials should be used to complete the gap
between the competency and performance of the
language learners, which is a common problem
among the nonnative speakers”. (Kilickaya : 2012)

the term of adopting and adapting. That
is the use of authentic materials namely
adopting, then adapting them with the
needs of the students in the classroom.
The goal is to create or prepare materials
that can serve as resources for effective
learning (Richards, 2001:262)

to illustrate moral teaching. In Oxford English
dictionary, parable means a simple story used to
illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson as well as
likeness, example or similitude

Sience in Qur’an
Song is very popular among the children. Every child often
amuse with the song. Nowadays, so many variants of the
songs appear and parents should be selective to allow their
children listen to any kind of songs since there are many
songs unsuitable to the age of children because of the
content or the lyric.

• Islamic song is a kind of songs that the lyrics contain
some moral or religious teaching. The compositions of
the lyrics are useful for the children to understand well
and more about the religious teaching.
