What does Deforestation mean?

Deforestation is when humans remove or clear large areas of forest lands and related ecosystems for
non-forest use. These include clearing for farming purposes, ranching and urban use. In these cases,
trees are never re-planted.

BASICALLY, Earth’s trees are disappearing

WHY?
Agriculture -To be used for farming purposes (grazing fields for livestock, or large-scale farming

Logging – To be used, sold or exported as timber, wood or fuel (charcoal). (roleplay) ( explain von)

Wildfires - A wildfire is simply an uncontrolled fire that is wiping out large fields and areas of land. (ask
question how does wildfires form) It is typically fires that started out of a lightning strike, or people
carelessly starting it, or accidentally, or even arson, that went un-noticed and got out of hand. These
fires sometimes burn for days and weeks. They can wipe out an entire forest and destroy almost every

It is also for:

making room for human settlement and urbanization (these include making space for shelter, industries,
and roads) and make room for mining.

SO WHAT IS THE EFFECT OF DEFORESTATION

Deforestations = Fewers trees to clean the air.

Deforestations = Global Warming

Not only that deforestation can also result to Loss of Biodiversity, Climate Change, Habitat
fragmentation, Soil erosion, Pollution, and many more.

Globally, 1.6 billion people rely on forest products for their livelihood

The US is no exception

US is 5% of earths population but they uses 30% of the world’s paper
