Help Wanted Poster

IT-IDT-1, IT-CSP-1, IT-PGAS-1 Demonstrate employability skills required by business and industry.

Today, you will be exploring a career development website called CareerOneStop and reporting
your findings on a poster. You will be researching jobs with all levels of education, many of
them only needing a high school diploma. The goal of this research is to show you the wide
variety of good options, even if post-secondary education is not a practical choice for you, or is
not immediately attainable after graduation. It is not to discourage you from going to a college
or university; it is just to show you the many options available to all levels of education.

1. You will start with an interest assessment to get ideas for careers that fit your interests,
or what you like to do. Your results will show you a list of careers; use the “Experience or
education needed” filter to see your best-fit occupations at the level of education you
prefer. Use the Snipping Tool to capture an image of your results like the image below:

2. Save the snip with the file name Survey Results so that you can submit it in Canvas along
with the poster you will create below.

3. Next you can select one or more job title in your results to see details on the career
description and watch a video to learn more about life on the job.

4. Once you have explored one or more job titles from your results, create a digital Help
Wanted poster with information about the job. On the poster, include the following:
 Job title
 Annual salary range
 Skills/talents needed for the job
 Education level needed for the job
 A catchy phrase that would draw job seekers to this career
Your poster should be visually pleasing, using space and color effectively. No font size should be
below 24 and should not use the default (Calibri) font. Make sure there are no grammar or
spelling errors, capitalizing proper nouns. You may use any software you choose, as long as it
can be snipped and an image of it submitted in Canvas along with your survey results. This
assignment will be graded using the following rubric:

Element Points
Snip of the survey results 20
Poster: Job Title (largest element) 10
Poster: salary, skills, education 20
Poster: Catchy phrase to promote the job 20
Visual elements (color, space and fonts) 20
Grammar, spelling, correctly submitted 10

Important: Remember to submit two image files: one of your survey results, and one of your
poster.
