Freedom of Information Request

Thank you for your email of March 2014, in which you ask for the following
information from the Ministry of Justice (MoJ):

Could you please tell me the conviction rates for supplying steroids to another
person over the last 5 years?

Also can you please tell me the conviction rates for possession with intent to
supply over the last 5 years?

Your request has been handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

I can confirm that the department holds the information that you have asked for, and I
am pleased to provide this to you.

The attached table presents the number of defendants proceeded against at

magistrates’ courts and offenders found guilty at all courts for offences relating to
anabolic steroids of supplying or offering to supply (or being concerned in supplying
or offering to supply) a controlled drug and also having possession of a controlled
drug with intent to supply, with conviction ratio, in England and Wales, from 2008 to
2012 (the latest available).

Sentencing in individual cases is a matter for the independent judges, who make
their decisions on the full facts of the case
