Reflective Essay Proposal

Topic: Moving (Pag-lilipat)

This will be about my experiences on moving from one place to another. By using
certain details and experiences, the central idea which is that of movement will be the
main focus. These experiences and details will be used for the realizations in the end. The
main realization that I will point out is that because of moving, people not only move
from one place to another physically but also spiritually and emotionally. The past
experiences though are left behind become an inspiration to do better and is a starting
point of maturity in a sense that we learn how to handle new people, things, problems,
and experiences.

Outline:

A. In life, the first thing we ever learn is to recognize things.

1. From childhood to adolescence, we make numerous friends.
2. These people come and go.
B. My childhood in Cogeo formed my person.
1. My friends came from different classes of society.
2. We used to talk for hours about life.
3. Though we viewed things differently, our friendship and interests binds us
together.
C. I had to adjust because of our moving from one house to the next.
1. It took me two to three years before I could adjust.
2. I still went to the same school but the fact that I lost my childhood friends came
to me as problematic.
3. But I’ve learned to treasure the friends that I left behind and use them as
inspirations for my new life.
D. Moving also from Marist to the Ateneo was quite shocking.
1. Knowing almost everybody in the batch, making friends in the university was
quite tough.
2. But having a true friend gave me fulfillment and happiness unlike any other.
3. When one needs comfort from all the stresses in life, one can talk to a friend
who will understand what he or she is going through.
E. Moving away does not necessarily mean detachment but rather attachment to a better
grasp of life.
