10 – Dophkah

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16. That verse is one of the
most famous verses from the bible and also have the impact to us creatures that God has
made to realize His unconditional love He has given us. A 30-minute short movie
portrayed the famous verse beautifully and touches the hearts of its audience with its
deep meaning. Most – The Bride is a story that draws an image of God’s love that has no
exceptions and restrictions.

Most is the story of a single father who takes his eight year-old son to work with
him at the railroad drawbridge where he is the bridge tender. A day before, the boy meets
a woman boarding a train, a drug abuser. At the bridge, the father goes into the engine
room, and tells his son to stay at the edge of the nearby lake. A ship comes, and the
bridge is lifted. Though it is supposed to arrive an hour later, the train happens to arrive.
The son sees this, and tries to warn his father, who is not able to see this. Just as the
oncoming train approaches, his son falls into the drawbridge gear works while attempting
to lower the bridge, leaving the father with a horrific choice. The father then lowers the
bridge, the gears crushing the boy. The people in the train are completely oblivious to the
fact a boy died trying to save them, other than the drug addict woman, who happened to
look out her train window. The movie ends, with the man wandering a new city, and meets
the woman, no longer a drug addict, holding a small baby. Other relevant narratives run
in parallel, namely one of the female drug-addict, and they all meet at the climax of this
tumultuous film.

This is a poetic and powerful story of a father forced to choose between love and
duty. A great story will give us great moral lesson and experience lots of emotions.
The short movie is very simple but when you watch it, it will leave you an
exceptional impact on what true love is. When I watched the video, I already know that it
will have a great moral that is useful in our lives. Most –The bridge is a short movie that
portrays the verse of John 3:16. It shows how God handles His struggles to make a better
future. In the movie, it shows the passengers who had their own life and mind themselves.
Their life was almost taken by an accident but if the father did not choose to save the
people and sacrifice his son the people inside the train will die. There are many definitions
of love. Some say that when you love you must sacrifice something. Some say that love
is when each creature care for another. But in the bible, (1 Corinthians 13:4-5:) “Love is
patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor
others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs”. Love
is all-consuming, empowering, and lives in each of us. Our heart is the symbol of the love
that resides in us and God is the symbol of the love that reflects down on Earth. I learned
that whatever challenges we will have to take in life, we make wise choices of what we
should do. Our life can be sad and it is a normal thing. Those sad moments will make us
stronger. Sometimes, we can be swallowed by darkness because of our sorrow. We feel
blue at times but always remember that there will be always a rainbow after a rain. God
will never leave us alone since He Himself loves us so much that He gave His only
begotten son to protect and save us from our sins and to save us from the miserable
feelings we have. The son learned a lot from his father. He loves to study people and
learn such emotions of others. He notices that every creature is precious even when we
are sinners. The world is full of imperfections. God made us beautifully imperfect but we
can always correct our wrong doings. In the end, the father and son went to his workplace,
hours passed the son noticed that the train happens to arrive earlier so he tried to reach
his father to bring back the bridge. The father can’t hear his son therefore his son went
an effort to save sinners. That is a heartbreaking scene yet so inspirational. That is how
Jesus saved us from our sins. The father went straight to the place where his son died.
He did not have grudges nor anger on his self. He realized that sacrificing his son to save
many is a painful wise choice. I appreciate God’s love and Jesus’ sacrifices to save us
sinners. Their unconditional love will never be replaced by anyone. They are right and
always be right.
